Review: Great for soothing burns and not sticking - My son got 2nd degree burns (enormous blisters) on his shouldars and these were the best burn pads with least pain caused we found. His burns were large so had to layer these to cover all. Used with non-adhesive guaze pads over and then gently secured with non-adhesive guaze rolls wrapped around to secure. We changed twice a day per docs instructions. Wish they sold a bulk pack but really appreciated these and we tried 5 or 6 different kinds.

Put one of these on as SOON as I got home. Left it on for about 3 days under a band-aid. After that long it was a bit sticky, so I just ran it under cool water and it came right off. Blister was still there, so I did a new one for another few days. These things help heal faster, and are SO good for the pain. I wouldn't recommend it for a burn serious enough to need to go to urgent care, but for those small pan / oven / hot plate burns they are about the best thing ever. We keep large pads, medium, and the jar of little squares.

**Q: which part of the pad do i use, the blue or the clear paper?**
A: The pad is a Clear Gel Pad that's mad of an absorbent material that is mostly water and won't stick to the wound and the progress of wound healing can be easily monitored through the top of the dressing.

**Q: HOW LONG does one last??**
A: My wife had a pretty bad burn on her arm from accidentally touching the oven - she estimates it was a second degree burn. We had one patch, but had Amazon send us these and she came away thrilled. She only had it on for 24 hours - she did not try having it on longer as she wanted to check the burn and clean the burn. But she feels as though it would be fine longer. Talking to her about it and watching the progress myself, we both were impressed by how well it stayed, how clean the area remained, and how secure she felt. Again, had she not wanted to clean the area, check it, and give it some air to aid healing, she would have felt comfortable for leaving it - in her opinion - 2 - 3 days.

**Q: The directions are terrible. It says to remove the blue plastic but mentions no clear plastic do u leave clear or want gel exposed on skin & outside ?**
A: Personally, I removed all plastic and placed the gel burn pad directly on the skin. I kept it in place using teflon burn bandages. Together, these worked really, really well!

**Q: Can you trim the pads to fit the size burn you have? Does the gel inside ooze out if you do cut them to size?**
A: Pads can be trimmed prior to removing the protective film covering both sides of the padded gel.  The gel will remain in shape - although a little difficult to handle once the film is removed.  After application, tape must cover the gel or it will dry out.  This is a great product and works well for burns and blisters.

I got this a box of this stuff as part of my "doomsday" kit after the tragic earthquake and tsunami in Japan. One night soon after I got this box I nuked .. err .. over nuked gravy in a bowl to pour over some meatloaf. No, this was not a planned test! I picked the bowl up, burned 3 of the fingers on my right hand while using a towel to pick it up one handed, and then dropped the white hot bowl of molten gravy which then proceeded to coat and cook all 4 finger from the first knuckle down to the fingertips on the left hand. In the meantime dummy here tried to grab the bowl again with the right fingers (bare). Wrong move. Getting splashed with molten gravy was like getting hit with boiling oil that sticks so it burned until I rinsed the stuff off. Grabbing after the nuclear gravy covered bowl wasn't too smart either. I rushed to the sink to run water over my fingers and realized that I needed to keep them cold continually because they started burning again as soon as I pulled them out of the water. This one was more than your average burn and I use a keyboard for a living so having 7 roasted fingers was not something I was looking forward to. Just then it dawned on me that I had just recently gotten this burn gel stuff and decided to give it a test. Man this stuff is great. You just apply it to the burned area and tape it in place. You don't have to keep replacing it like you have to keep re-wetting a towel or keeping your burn in ice water. The gel pads immediately stopped the burning and easily lasted 24 hours without need for replacement until I changed the bandage the next day. If I had used a wet towel I'd have been wetting it constantly all night long unless I used ice through a towel and that gets messy. After using the burn pad I did not get any blisters nor any burn markings on my fingers. This stuff works for the minor burns that hurt like he11. I don't know about real serious burns but I'm sure they'll provide excellent relief until medical attention is sought. It claims to help reduce scarring. I don't know if I got burned bad enough to tell if I'd have had scars but would imagine it would help since it is sterile and comforting. My fingers felt much better the next day as long as I kept the pad on. I had cut it up for each finger. By the 36th hour I no longer needed them and the fingers felt fine again. I can swear by these. I could even use my keyboard with the pads taped to my fingers. The pad material resembles jellyfish flesh somewhat and feels moist and cool on the application side. Its a tad over a millimeter thick. Each one comes sealed in a sterile packet. This is great to keep handy around the house. You can even add a pad or two to your emergency kit if you have one. I highly recommend you keep some on hand.
