Ultralife 9V Lithium Battery U9VL-J Aluminum Housing

I bought this item in quantity for its price and long life. I am using them in smoke detectors. They are supposed to last 5 times longer than a regular battery. I will let you know in 5 year if they really last that long.

Replaced an alkaline battery with this in a smoke detector. It only lasted 9 months before I had to replace it. Why did this expensive ($7)lithium battery only last 9 months, where as the 45 cent alkaline lasted two years?

Use for smoke and heat detectors in difficult to reach locations because the extended life eliminates annual replacement, which can be a hassle. They are more costly than "normal" 9 volt batteries, but are worth it in certain locations.

I can"t truthfully give this more than 3 stars because I only received it this month. If you ask me in ten years, I will be better able to give you a truthful evaluation. The battery was not manufactured in the USA as advertised, it was manufactured in China. It is a 9 volt lithium battery.

Received this item (three of them) and they are not the made in USA battery pictured. They are made in China and seem to be violating the trademark of UltraLife. Have not used them yet but this is not a good start.
