Opens the pelvis up when sitting preventing hip impingement by placeing the hips above the knees. Two different pain problems both alleviated by this pillow for long and short trips in the car. Great for a work chair too if you have a desk job. I like that the fabric grips to your clothing and that there is grip on the bottom so it doesn't slide around. We are around 175 lbs at our heaviest and the pillow is the right amount of firmness. Others that are similar but more plain are too squishy for our weight and don't work because of that alone. I am in health care so I use a saddle seat there (with wheels) to fix my hip pain to avoid a 90° angle or more with my hips.
