Start by using 3x’s a week. Then very other day, then once a day . By increasing the usage gradually your skin will adjust to the powerful ingredient benzoyl peroxide which kills acne bacteria instantly but is very drying to your skin. I use non cosmedemic face cream such as cethphil lotion after I wash with this acne wash. Then at night I would put on the recommended amount of tretinoin. When I did this for several days I noticed that my face was oozing lots of oil---more than ever. However at the same time my face felt irritated/burned. Not only that but I had painful cysts and large large whiteheads. In theory you should only need one or the other (trenitoin OR benzoyl peroxide) but not both. When I used both my face was really irritated. I'll mention that I currently only use this benzoyl peroxide (small amount) and a face antibiotic (clindamycin phosphate). I have ditched the trenitoin entirely because it leads to massive whiteheads that are encased by layers of skin. These zits would never come to a head and were very painful. I hope this review will help other teenagers who struggle with acne and it’s unpredictably. My son is 17 a junior in high school and has battled acne since the 9th grade . We have been to dermatologist who recommend antibiotics and topicals with major side effects that outweigh the benefits . They have even deemed him a candidate for accutane. We choose to use the topical antibiotic prescribed that does clear his skin somewhat not before the breakout gets worse and then at the cost of leaving his skin very red and visible dry and chapped . So there is not big pimples but his skin still isn’t clear . Fast forward to two months ago , he plays basketball and requested a creamOr wash for his acne on his back and shoulders which is far worse then what is on his face . So I went online and ordered this product with not a high expectation as I have bought every over the counter medication scrubs and washes you can buy with no luck . About two weeks later I looked at my son one day and said “wow , you face looks super clear and early good “ he said “I have been using the wash on my face that you just bought “ I was in shock! I haven’t seen his face this clear and not irritated in years . I highly recommend this product for face and body for major acne . It totally works .
