They are pre-installed in the bracket and hose. You decide to put it or not on the shower head, before is attached to the hose. I tried without the ring first, and the pressure was painful! :) I decided to install the O-ring and the pressure is also very good. **Q: I want to connect this to a shower extension arm, is that possible?** A: I believe you can install any shower head to an extension arm. **Q: Is the shower head holder/connecting bracket, including the ball joint, all metal?** A: Yes it came with all mounting hardware. Zero complaints! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Initially great, broke within months...fixed by removing the flow regulator *by 7***7 on January 11, 2024* Initially both showerheads we got were impressive. A few months into using them, the main bathroom flow went down basically to gravity camp shower. Replaced hoses, O-rings, cleaned with vinegar and baking soda and still nothing. Less frequently used showerhead was still strong. Finally, it clicked that the flow regulator in this unit is nothing more than a small o-ring INSIDE the showerhead itself and that has possibly been worn out with use. It would have been nice to know this during the install. After removing this the flow is back to normal. You will need some kind of a Hook and Pick Set (automotive dept.) to remove the ring. You can remove just the rubber ring or the whole plastic stopper that holds the ring. We had these for 3 years now and at the time cost of $53 each.
