Very good smooth, slightly sweet matcha at a affordible price.
I received my 4 oz. of Viva Matcha today, and I was excited to try it. I still had about 3 to 4 servings of another brand that sells for $26.99 per oz., for their premium grade. The difference in color, texture, and flavor are like night and day. My old brand has a gritty texture to my palate, and it is slightly astringent, and the color is a pale green. I drank it, but wasn't going to re-purchase it. The Viva Matcha I received came in a foil bag, which was stuffed into a very nice cobalt blue jar. There was a small typed note from the manufacturer stating that they added a little more matcha to the bag. I don't own a scale which is sensitive enough to weigh the package but it was about more than 4 times the amount I received of the 1 oz. matcha I have been using. So I feel that I was given more than 4 ounces as they stated. The color is a vivid green like they show on their site, and it has a very fresh, sweet, fragrance, like sweet young clover grass in a field. The powder is extremely fine like talc, so open the bag with care. I shuck the bag gently, and cut it across the top with scissors. I got a little on my fingers while transferring it into the jar they provided, and so I tasted it. It was delicious and slightly sweet. I put about half of the matcha into the jar as they suggest, and it filled the jar half full. So it appears that the jar holds all the product nicely.Next I made a cup, and it was so good that I can't wait for my cup in the morning. Sweet and creamy, with a beautiful shade of minty green as shown on Amazon's ad. I use 1/2 teaspoon with about 3-4 ounces of hot ( but not boiling water). The expiration date on the bag, and the box it came in are both 05/19/2017. I understand that matcha is good for one year after it is packaged, so this matcha appears to be as stated, as ceremonial grade which is a spring harvest. It may not be the first blush, but it is a good quality matcha tea for the price. Same matcha as their 1 oz. bag at half the cost.I expect that I'll be reordering soon because my daily matcha consumption will be going up. I'll also buy this Viva Matcha as a gift for my tea loving friends.

It's the Good Stuff! ππππππππ
Viva matcha presents like a beautiful gift. I was delighted because the price might cover the cost to make the packaging! How then is the tea priced so low? They didn't forfeit quality in tea. Labeled as organic ceremonial grade matcha, it's smooth and creamy and tastes "green" as you'd expect from a quality matcha. No where is indicated the region where the tea is grown. That is the only disappointment. For those new to matcha, the small 1oz bag is usual for ceremonial grade matcha. If you find a larger amount at a great price, it's likely culinary grade which makes me sick (literally) to drink. This is the good stuff! I'll buy again to test their consistency. Also, if I could buy just the little bag of tea, now that i own the jar, that'd be optimum!Sorry, no tea puns... LoL

At first unusual, but now it's happiness in a cup!
I have never had matcha before, but heard about the many benefits so I wanted to try it although I'm not a big green tea fan. Making the matcha as instructed by Viva Naturals and using the proper ceremonial cup and whisk, I was able to make a large cup of thick, spring green and foamy matcha. It smelled like a late spring morning, when the grass is growing like wildfire and the sun is shining brightly--the kind of morning that wakes you up and energizes you with just its smell. At first, the taste was disconcerting, a little tangy and bitter and green, but the aftertaste turned just a bit sweet on the tongue. I couldn't help but take another taste... and another... And I soon found myself with an empty cup and a lovely taste that remained with me. I'm addicted now -- me, the one who normally drinks strong black tea with sugar or coffee with creamer and sugar. I don't feel any need to sweeten this tea, and the simple act of making it and sitting to simply focus and enjoy it has been wonderful!

It blends evenly and foams nicely (just a little but not too much) when you ...
I'm a novice to the world of matcha and premium teas, but I did watch some videos and read about matcha grades before picking this. I've tried culinary several times for smoothies and baking and ceremonial once for drinking. The color of this is very vibrant when you first get it, it has yellowed a bit over two months but is still very green. It blends evenly and foams nicely (just a little but not too much) when you make it. The taste is very mellow, slightly sweet, pairs well with cream and honey. The packaging seems very thoughtful (the company sent me an email about their packaging design, which I appreciated). As far as I know, you should store this in the fridge, but the glass container and foil packet are designed to protect the matcha from air and light. I would buy from this company again.

Nice Packaging....but not quite ceremonial, IMO
This Viva Naturals matcha was not quite ceremonial grade, IMO. If it is, it must be a lower grade. I've tried several other brands: Do Matcha, Kenko, AO AO & Maeda-en, and they were all superior to the Viva. This matcha blends up a murky green, not a bright limey green. It also tastes "heavy" and bitter, not grassy and bright. I also needed to use alot more than usual to get the concentration I like, almost 2 tsp! My motto is go strong or go home. If you can't REALLY taste it, why are you even drinking it? If you're going to just add a pinch of matcha, might as well drink water!I do love the violet jar and the awesome pricing. Getting the matcha out of the foil bag was challenging, as I didn't want to waste any and the matcha dust was getting everywhere and making me cough.

I wish I tried this sooner!
5 Stars - Arrived quickly thanks to Amazon Prime! I love Viva Naturals Matcha Green Tea! I recently quick drinking diet soda and desperately needed the caffeine jolt and worried that this wouldn't give me enough energy, bc green tea normally doesn't (nothing does and Diet Coke/Coke Zero doses the perfect amt of caffeine for my liking) , however, Viva Naturals was the perfect mid-day pick up. No jitters and no effects, just all of a sudden, you naturally feel better and more awake and alive. And it's good for you. I just need to figure how to take w me leaving the house!
