Review: Great for that stubborn pup! - Anyone who has a stubborn dog could use this collar - it does not harm your dog, it simply "gets their attention" especially if you have a dog who has long hair. It is easy to adjust - just remove as many of the prongs as you need; the snap makes it easy to remove and to put back on. As this is a strong steel product, it will last for a long time! I have 2 Cairn Terriers and 2 of these collars - I don't ever take my dogs out without one!
Review: For our very stubborn Anatolian Shepherd/Great Dane rescue - We rescued Maus August 2014 from our local Humane Society. I had gone to find a large breed puppy. Came home with a three-year-old AMAZING dog that has some issues due to previous owner neglect/abuse. She's been more than worth it though. At 117lbs, she can be quite the handful, and walking was a chore, sometimes painfully so. Tried several types of collars, both gentle leader style (they won't stay on her head), etc etc. She needs both a harness and a collar as she can twist out of most anything when she perceives a threat. As in dogs growling barking and charging at us, whether behind a fence or due to them running loose. The one con I have is it should include directions. I couldn't figure out how to use it and thought it was broken. Luckily I have a German (figured relevant since the product is German) boyfriend to show me (but it took him a moment as well). The chain piece that at first I thought was broken turns out to be what you thread through a small hole, then attach with the very easy to use clasp. Wow, what a difference. I'd been using a different style of prong collar, where you have to pinch together the long prongs to make them fit into another one. I have some arthritis issues and some days it was almost impossible with a very excited dog who was more than ready to go. While she sits for collar/harness attaching, she's not good at sitting for lengthy times of owner ineptitude while gearing up. I can slide this collar over her head and it sits high on her neck for the maximum 'hey, let's not eat the annoying small yappy dog that is charging at us' effect. A quick correct is all it takes, along with a 'no pulling' or 'leave it' and she's been so much easier to walk and enjoy. The shorter prongs work much better with her short fur, no more painful corrections. Our daily 'drag and sniff' sessions are now much easier for all of us. As we also have a 40lb Australian Kelpie/Whippet mix rescue (who needs no prong), this means both dogs can walk, sniff, trot and enjoy being outdoors without me having to constantly being cranky at being jerked, yanked and pulled (sometimes all the way to the ground, not fun but sometimes funny, I have to admit) and the continual orders every few seconds. Taking it off is a breeze, just unclasp and off it goes, no pain for me nor for Maus as I don't have to grab and force prongs apart while having the collar too tight for that moment of sometimes more than a few seconds like with pinch together prong styles. This is the first dog I've ever needed to 'prong', (had a 140lb Rottie, and a 60lb Akita mix before this new batch of dogs), and I have to admit it's made a difference for the better. When you have a dog who can put their head on the dining table w/o lifting their chin, who's never been trained properly and is very stubborn, you have to find ways to keep them from taking over in every aspect while being firm but gentle. Not only are we happier, she's MUCH happier and we are enjoying longer walks as a result!

**Q: is this counterfeit?  I ordered this and it came in a bag with a made in china label on it.  I am returning it without even opening the bag**
A: If you’ve never had a springer you’ll know ! The difference I just returned 3 counterfeit ones ! Cheap garbage ... people that say it real but never used one should get a real one from an actual store and see the difference... also know how to place it on your dog and how tight it should be ! Important but nope bag from China it’s from China ! Sorry !

**Q: Does the 16 inch collar have quick release?  Mine doesn't and I'm wondering if it's really Sprenger since some reviewers received counterfeits.**
A: We have 2 Sprengers and I made sure that they both have "Sprenger" stamped into the metal and the tag that was attached said Sprenger also. If it doesn't, send it back.

**Q: My dog's neck is 17 inches (Circumference). He's a 42 lb Bernedoodle, with curly hair. What is the right size collar and right size prongs to order?**
A: Typically, prong collars only come in even number measurements.  So that would bump you up to the 18”  X  3.0 MM.  These prongs can be taken off to shorten it if needed or add to it if needed to get a proper fit for your dog.

A: I also just looked all the reviews and no one actually got a guinuin herm Sprenger collar- these are aparently made in China

Anyone who has a stubborn dog could use this collar - it does not harm your dog, it simply "gets their attention" especially if you have a dog who has long hair.
