Great for oily skin
I have oily skin and have tried the lotion and much prefer the gel. The lotion makes my skin look oilier than I would prefer. (I will keep the lotion as it may be better for use in winter when my skin is drier). You only need the tiniest bit of the gel and it smooths evenly and easily over your face. It works very well with the Alpha skin care face cleanser, which I looooove. The two combined have started making a big difference in my skin, even in just the few short weeks of using. I have psoriasis prone skin and have used Cetaphil, Cerave, as well as some other more expensive brands and this is the first time, I haven't had a flaky issue with my skin. Like NOT. AT. ALL. I am having some random acne like areas in my T-zone (nothing crazy, just a few spots here and there that have quickly disappeared), and did some pretty extensive research to learn this is the skin purging all the impurities and turning over skin cells. I'm at the beginning of this skincare journey, so this is to be expected. Overall, my skin is smoother and looks better than it ever has.

This works
I am impressed by how well Alpha Skin Care Products do deliver great results at such an affordable price compared to other brands I have used. This works, I have been using it consistently now for sometime at night along with my prescription Tretinoin and the results are amazing. This exfoliates the dead dry skin making it much easier for my tretinoin to penetrate through the layers of skin. I like the gel consistency because it absorbs rather quickly however I do wait a half an hr before I apply my cream.I do use Paula's choice BHA as well and other products during the day.My only small issue is this dispenses very fast out of the tube so I end up using more than needed.I am not new to AHA so it's very normal to feel a slight stinging at first but it goes away from my experience which is what I expect because I know this is effective. Will buy more when im low.

This little tube is everything!
I've used this product for 20 years. It was recently updated with rebranding but it's the same oil free AHA gel I've always loved. Good for exfoliating, keeping wrinkles & at bay & clearing pores (and keeping them that way). Great for acne & blackheads too but test your skin!. It faded small hyperpigmentation spots over time. I've used it on my knees & elbows too. A little goes a long long way so just use a dab. No wacky ingredients or fragrance so my sensitive skin has never had an issue. Follow w/ your favourite oil or moisturizer. Never use after waxing or shaving...wait a day.

Nice gel but
I wish this were a light lotion instead of a gel. The next level up has silicones, of which I am not a fan. We oily skin gals need moisture too. This gives a bit of moisture, but it feels more like a gel/serum. I will say it plumps nicely. Being over 40, I am starting to lose some volume around the edges of my smile, and you can't tell that's happening when I am using this. Skin surface is more smooth when I wake up in the morning. Overall I'm happy with it but I wish it weren't just a joke.

10% Gel a Miracle!
It took my skin about 2 weeks to get used to this product but I expected that because I used it many years ago when it was Alpha Hydroxy. My skin is not particularly sensitive but back then it was too harsh so I stopped using it. Decided to give it another try and what a miracle! Again, it took a while for my skin to "settle down" after starting it but now I can't be without it - I put it on Subscribe and Save! I had a major surgery a little over a year ago and my skin never bounced back. The texture was rough and I had little white milia all over my face which were a huge pain to get rid of. I was even a regular user of retinol and exfoliated frequently. Nothing helped, even my derm who recommended salicylic acid which did nothing. I saw the good reviews for this product and decided to give it another try. My skin is now clear, no redness and NO MILIA! I notice that the only place to find it these days is on Amazon which worries me that it will be discontinued. NO!

Fantastic for fading dark spots
Have been using this for years. I recommend you to start with the 5% or lower aha and build up to the 10 if you are sensitive, as this can cause tingling. I use it on my face, upper back for dark spots including old Purple acne scars. It works to fade dark marks from ingrown hairs , bikini line and under arm darkness or scars on your legs from shaving or mishaps. It is a must have and it works. If you are in between seasons and you have leftover splotchy facial tan and sun discoloration this will even you all up and brighten your face. If you feel your skin looks dull, tired, and needs a perk me up- try this! I do not use for the wrinkle effect although it is a chemical exfoliator and will help to soften fine lines. I use for brightening dark marks. I use at night and rinse off in AM. Apply a thin layer. Keep in mind when you use AHAs it can make you more sun sensitive, so stay out of the sun or wear sunscreen/ moisturizer or foundation with sunscreen.

Working for me for 30 years
I've been using this off and on since high school, I am almost 50 years old now. It is amazing. I use it every night, and it clears up all the tiny little bumps and comedones on my face, as well as evening out my skin tone and keeping wrinkles at bay. When I stop using it, my skin looks sort of cloudy. I did try the 12% serum for awhile but I just find this level works best for me. And it's an absolute bargain stacked next to my Estee Lauder moisturizers.

Not for rosacea.
I'm sure this is perfect for some people, like my daughter who has hormonal and cystic breakouts. She loves it. I on the other hand, have type 1,2 and 4 rosacea and my skin reminded me of how fierce it can be after I used this once. While exploring new and updated products for my super sensitive skin, I'd have to say that this was my biggest fail. Ouch. I'm going to stick with a 1%BHA. As far as Alpha Skincare is concerned, one of the best skincare companies. I love the dual skincare lightened (review posting today) Non reactive and effective for "spots" I'm a believer in their line. Please don't let this review waiver your decision to purchase. If you know you can use 10% glycolic or if your skin isn't super sensitive, you're looking at top of the line budget friendly quality products.
