I had Mohs surgery on my face so I need more than just sunscreen. The umbrella has some basic pros and a con. Pros: It works! It is lightweight and easy to carry in your purse and while holding it. The umbrella is pretty and the underside of the umbrella is black which I guess is what keeps the sun from shining through. I definitely feel noticeably cooler and more protected when I use it. And the one day I left it in my car and walked to work, I surely missed it! The only real con for me is that is really doesn’t do well in the wind. In my experience, anything more than the lightest of breeze and this things wants to turn inside out. I take it everywhere, everyday. Having already had skin cancer, I do not care to have any more. It opens immediately with one push and is small enough to carry in my purse. I have used it almost a year now and it has never failed me. Even during some windy times, it pops right back into shape. I live in Southwest Florida and even on our few “cold” days, the blazing sun is relentless. There is a black coating on the inside that actually does make it a few degrees cooler underneath. My daughter didn’t believe me until she tried it out… Then she immediately asked me to buy her one and she took it with her and her family when they went to Disney World.
