It started out pretty stiff, but I put it in the washer ...
It started out pretty stiff, but I put it in the washer a few times and now it is soft and flexible. My 8 year old uses it and he doesn't even notice that it is there.

Does the job
My son seems to misplace his neck guards far more frequently than I would think possible, so I’ve purchased several. I thought that I would give this one a try for him. It works, but he has commented multiple times that it’s somewhat uncomfortable. He describes it as being “stiff” and has mentioned that there are several spots that touch skin that are uncomfortable.

Nice and not heavy.
We got the neck guard for our 10yr old. It was not too heavy for him. It is a little bit wider than we liked but he still wears it to be protected. We love how the Velcro in the back makes it easy to adjust the fitting.

Light weight, comfortable protection
I bought this after the recent news of a hockey player in the UK who died when his neck was cut by a skate blade. I've never worn one before (I've been playing for 65+ years) but all minor hockey players are required to wear them. Maybe they should be mandatory for all ages? This neck guard is quite light weight but the ballistic nylon material will (apparently) protect against cuts. I've worn it a number of times. You can leave it fairly loose since the shape / contours on the upper edge of the guard keep it in place below your chin. After a few times I really don't notice it other than it is a bit warmer than not wearing one. I wash it after most games and this may have softened it up. Highly recommended.

Not even close to the 2.54cm, more like 2.54 inches. Wouldnt recommend if you're looking for a slim guard
