UPDATE: Unfortunately I am decreasing from 5 stars to 3. I LOVE this little fountain WHEN IT RUNS. This does seem to only run while in the sun now. The first 2 days it ran for a while in the shade. Maybe the charge just went out. Not sure about the battery back up - I would love to figure it out, and feel a bit confused about the battery option. When it runs (in the sun) it is awesome. Does anyone know how the battery backup works or if there is an additional part that I need to purchase? I sure would like this to run for longer than it does!

I received this today. The birds seem very intrigued by it and have be hanging out around the bird bath with it in it. It is a sunny day so the water is definitely spouting up. That being said, the water seems to be disappearing out of the birdbath really fast for some reason. So, I guess the birds will have to learn to have their fun early in the day and then they are out of luck until I add more water. Maybe it will be better in something bigger than a birdbath or on a less sunny day? Not sure. I do like it...I am just not sure how often it will actually be running if the birdbath loses all its water quickly.

This solar fountain is the best so far. I have ordered 2 cheaper ones and as always, You get what you pay for.Both of the others stopped working and made loud humming noises when starting. One stopped after a few months and the other after one week.This fountain had better instructions, more nozzles, secure packing and straw side bumpers to keep the main solar device in the center and deepest part of the bird bath. It is your choice to use or not. The fountain will still work if you don't use them. I just received it, but have my fingers crossed it has a longer life. Will update soon.

STOPED WORKING! Only lasted 14 days. Cleaned as instructed then NOTHING. I was marginally pleased with this fountain. Seemed to be a bit under powered but with 3W I wasn’t expecting too much. I did, however, expect to last at least the season but 14 DAYS!!! Come on.

I love this little fountain, and so do the birds. So easy to use. I live in Seattle - great skies most days - but this fountain works great even in cloud cover. It gathers enough battery power during the day to work well into the evening. Has lots of choices for the spray pattern and it shuts itself off if there’s not enough water. The birds will sit right on it and take a shower lol which is entertaining to watch. It has stoppers included to make sure it stays in the middle of the birdbath, but I have rocks in mine so I haven’t needed those yet, as the fountain sits between the rocks so it doesn’t move. Bought it based on everyone’s reviews and I’m not disappointed.
