Great, reasonably priced antenna for over-the-air TV
San Francisco, because of its hills, can be dicey for picking up over the air TV signals. The area that I live in has direct line of site to Sutro Tower, about a half mile away with multiple TV stations. The challenge: the stations that aren't on that tower are either behind a mountain or 35-65 miles away. The ones behind a mountain (which include NBC) are noted as "2Edge" and a 29 dB noise margin from the TVFool website. The NBC station is notorious for not being able to be picked up over the air in certain parts of San Francisco. I was able to find a direction to point this antenna that picked up all of the stations crystal clear, they look great and somewhat better than I was getting with Comcast.I can't really explain the positioning of the antenna direction (e.g. whether the black bar should be point towards the broadcast signal; away from the broadcast signal or at 90 degrees to the broadcast signal). The antenna is highly directional, though, as I noticed that even some of the channels that are a half mile away do not come in clearly if the antenna is rotated slightly. The instructions are pretty vague, though I still found assembly easy enough based on the photo on the box.I reused the base of my old satellite dish mount and added a "mast to mast mounting kit for small diameter pipes" and a "35 inch mast extension" which worked beautifully to mount this antenna as can be seen in the photo.

works great for UHF/VHF in Raleigh area
I purchased this antenna for use in the Raleigh area where I needed good UHF and VHF (for a single ABC-11 channel since they did not migrate to UHF as part of the digital switch). I get excellent reception using this antenna in my attic. I previously built my own coat hanger bowtie hdtv antenna (google it if you are curious) and received 39 channels (but not the VHF abc station). This antenna picks up 59 channels in my area including the VHF channel I needed. The built-in VHF antenna and UHF/VHF signal combiner is what set this antenna apart for me in this price range.Unlike most of the previous reviewers to date, I did not get any discount on the purchase (I wish I did).

Excellent reception for its compact size .
When used with a Winegard LNA200 preamp and a channel master 8 output antenna signal distribution amplifier I was able to pick up all local networks in my part of Western, NC. This was easy to assemble and quite compact. The addition of the small VHF antenna along with the 4 UHF bays made for an economical antenna solution. Just remember that in almost every case you will want to combine this with an antenna preamp.

They do say in the fine print that one isn't included but I missed that
There's no mast included as shown in the photos so you can't install it until you buy one. They do say in the fine print that one isn't included but I missed that. The antenna is mostly in pieces, its more than "minor" assembly required as described. No assembly instructions and nuts/bolts/hardware was scattered across the bottom of the box (but amazingly all there). You'll have to use the picture on the box to assemble it. This is going in our attic, I'd buy a better one if it was going outside. I don't think it would last long exposed to the weather and sun.

Sweet 16! (number of channels I get)
Nice antenna. It works. 20 feet up in the air . I get my 60 mile away channels by pointing the face towards the broadcast tower. I get all the rest of the 25 mile away channels also. No splitters. No amps. and snap-n-seal, f-connectors. I plan on adding a small, RF amp and a 4-way splitterto feed all of my TV's and dump the cable company.

Absolutely amazing reception. It is 16ft up the outside wall ...
I live in North Phoenix and received 107 channels with only one having any noise on it. Absolutely amazing reception. It is 16ft up the outside wall and mounted easily on the Dish network pole. I could only get 49 channels on teh fanciest indoor antenna from costco

should not use a pre amp unless it is a long wire of fifty feet or more or more than two tv's you can overload the tv if your in a good area for reception
works very well, I do antenna installations, should not use a pre amp unless it is a long wire of fifty feet or more or more than two tv's you can overload the tv if your in a good area for reception, I have stations in different locations in Buffalo area and they all worked quite well with antenna on the roof, stations become some what limited in attic. Do not believe that antennas will pull in stations far away over thirty five miles it all depends on obstructions such as hills buildings trees between the antenna and transmitters. If the signal is at your location than a good antenna will work very well, if reception is not there or poor than does not matter that an antenna advertised to receive stations far away is a joke.

Works Great!
Tried one of those square window units and only got 2 channels of a very close tower. Put this on the already existing tripod on our 2 story house and got 48 channels. Worked very well!
