Good basic dual band mag mount.
Worked a lot better than the previous mag mount I was using. Wish the cable was a bit longer but I made it work. I got further down the valley floor than several of my local group using the same antenna so I must have got a good one. My only concern was the packaging didn't seem to really come with instructions to assemble but I figured it out. Good for short to medium term antenna. I plan to run it for a while and maybe eventually put a fender antenna mount in. Until then this is getting me very reasonable range for the wattage and height and location.I bought one of the 10 dollar mini mag mounts for use with an HT before this one and it didn't last a month. Hoping this one does Better and it appears to be higher quality by far.HRO was cheaper by a could dollars but I have prime so I traded the faster speed for the 3 bucks. If you buy a large order HRO might have free shipping then the price difference might be greater.

Perfect For Mobile Portability
My Tacoma has only 1 opening under the radio and knob area. Did not want to install an expensive big radio for the limited trips around town. Purchased the compact BTECH dual band mobile. Advertised as 10W & 20Watt. On meter, 8W on low, 18W on high, close enough for local repeater operation. Runs off accessory cig lighter plug. Needed good quality short dual band antenna with pl-259 and magnetic mount. This Diamond is perfect for my needs. Well made and not as obvious as huge dual band antenna. Our home garage has low roof, so needed short antenna. Strong magnetic with 13ft coax line. Only hits garage door in 2 places when driving in-out. I go slow, not to damage antenna. It is thick and will not bend like the cheap antennas. Purchased 2nd one for a just in case. Glad to see its same price as 1st order from 2 yrs ago.

Structurally solid but…
Good solid antenna. No rust after a few years on the truck. Without ever touching any part on the antenna or coax, the swr can change radically and unpredictably. Just be aware of the swr before you need to ise the riig.

Very happy with this antenna.
I am regularly able to get full quiet audio reports from repeaters 20miles away on a Ft-60r HT (5watts) using this antenna. Must be good components and coax used in building this antenna. The coax seems delicate but is holding up well to 100degree temps and 75mph highway speeds. You have to be careful not to crush or kink the coax if you run it to the vehicle roof via the door seals. I reinforced my cable by doubling up and splitting two 1.5" sections of drinking straw and sliding them over the coax where I had a slight pinch point. I cleanly wrapped the straw reinforcement with heavy electrical tape. Probably overkill but I'd rather be cautious.Of course, Your signal results may vary based on on topology, repeater height, etc. The antenna itself is good stuff.

I have to say this is a great little antenna
I have to say this is a great little antenna! Working a local low-level repeater, I found this antenna matches or even beats a much taller 70cm one I was using. Solid copy even on the fringe coverage. In fact, I took the the antenna element off the car so I could park in the garage and I was still hearing the repeater! That tells me Diamond used good coax and materials. The antenna feels well-built and sturdy and already survived a trip through a too-low parking garage. I'm a happy camper!

Diamond WILL NOT answer the phone or reply to emails!
EDIT: I bought this antenna in June of 2022. The element broke off while driving down the road in February 2023. While this is more than a mild inconvenience, things do break occasionally in mass produced items. The problem for me is in the complete lack of warranty support. I have attempted to contact Diamond by phone and email. Diamond will not answer the phone, reply to voicemails or reply to emails. A one star review is way too generous for the customer service experience I have received. I strongly do not recommend buying anything from them as they do not support their products after the sale!I purchased this antenna to use on my work truck. The ribs on the roof make it difficult to place a larger magnet. Don’t let the size fool you, this little magnetic mount holds strong. I have had great signal reports with it. I am very pleased with it so far. 73 KJ5ET
