A must have
This is a must have for testing many a cable. It tests 8 styles of cable, Speak-on, XLR, RCA, 3.5mm, MIDI, Ethernet (all 8 pins), 1/4" & 1/8" TRS, and USB cables. It provides a tone generator at 3 levels, indicates phantom power, crossed wires, shorts and opens, and intermittent's. It's a trouble shooters best friend. It takes 2 AA batteries. The price was surprisingly the best ever, below the prices I had seen at music stores. Get one now before the price goes back up.

Much better than expected
Really nice product that is helpful in troubleshooting audio cable issues in the Studio, Stage or Home. Cost of the unit is a good value as well. The quality of the enclosure is better than expected and the unit functions well in testing various cables. It is much easier than using an ohmmeter, of which I have several. However, the manual is trash. Written in 15 different languages and even then, selecting out the English portion, it is hard to understand, even if you are an Engineer. I was able to figure out how the equipment works but some may have difficulty.Behringer should rewrite the manual and if they need to include many languages, should make separate small booklets for each so we can select the one that applies to us and throw away the rest.Maybe I will write a clear manual for this fine product to include troubleshooting cables, and sell it on Amazon for few dollars.RecommendedBobztEngineer

Trouble sort of
1/4" cables all test shorted (even new ones). Verified cables good with tester at work. Test tone output is OK for XLR but low dB on 1/4". If it worked it would be great.Edit: This is a Behringer glitch with the TS cable. Its expecting a TRS cable. That explains the reduced test tone signal. Read on IOT. Work around is 1/4" to RCA adapter and test thru RCA. Why Behringer, why?

A very handy tool to have in your tech kit
I've been a tech team member at two different churches over the years, operating and maintaining their sound systems. I purchased a Behringer CT200 cable tester for each church while attending them. This cable tester makes quick work of performing basic function tests for eight different types of cables, including Cat5 and Cat6 network jumpers and USB cables. It also produces three different levels of test tones for checking cable runs to mixers and amplifiers. In my opinion it's one of the best cable testers available, especially given its bargain price point.

Trying to answer some of the low star rating issues.
Before I purchased the CT200 and read all the reviews. Most of the complaints, I hope to answer here.1) "Does not test 1/4 TS connectors". Well, it does show a short between the ring (3) and the sleeve (1). Yes, it does not give a green PASS light. So if the display shows a shot between 1 3 and 3 1 you should know that the TS cable is good since there is no ring (3).2) "The manual is lacking". The written manual is hard to follow due to the multiple languages layout. I downloaded the PDF that is just in English and was very easy to follow.3) "Manual does not mention to use the reset button". The manual does give several examples on how to test and states to press the reset button after inserting both ends. This needs to be done, for as you insert the last 1/4 plug the tip will connect with the sleeve and ring contacts in the jack creating a short.4) "There is no explanation on what the display means". The manual does give examples and it does not take long to figure what the 33 on TRS and XLR cable mean it is the last connection tested, on a 5 pin MIDI cable the display will read 55, on J45 88, RCA 22, get the idea....5) "Phillips screw holding battery compartment door". This is a poor design. I do like to remove batteries or isolate the ends to prevent discharge when not in use. But I feel the product still earned 5 stars. It's well made and has worked as expected.Hope this help someone.

Great little tool.
Can’t say anything bad about this. Kept looking for directions. The directions are on the side of it. Was very pleased with this. Now I can stop guessing if cords are bad.

Verified some cables I thought were bad were in fact bad - worth the money
I had two TRS cables, one 1/8" and the other 1/4" that I thought were bad. This tester verified that they were in fact bad. It also verified that two 1/4" TS instrument cables were good and a male XLR to male 1/4" TRS. To test the 1/4" TS instrument cables you'll want to buy 1/4" TS to RCA adaptor (1/4" female to RCA male) and connect them to both ends of the instrument cable. Then use the RCA jacks on the tester to verify. Simple as that.I also bought this for the tone generator. I need to connect two mixers and I hope this will help me normalize the signal between the mixers. Haven't tried that yet. Some people complain about the manual, but I thought it was easy to follow even though each language is not in the booklet as a series of contiguous pages. I agree that changing this would be an improvement. Generally you would not read the feature list in French and the operating instructions in Portuguese. Needs two AA batteries and the battery compartment has a screw for the access panel.
