Anyway , after this last heavy rain , I looked , behind fireplace ... perfecto ! This stuff sealed my chimney base , so far so good and it applies very easily . The application is VERY easy , it is water based , dries like oil based , that is seems strong , not lingering wet . By the way , other reviews say the paint brush is shot afterwards , not if you wash it pretty soon after application , it is acrylic , so it washes away . You got about 10-20 seconds to play with it …after that she gets hard to work with, and you’ll make it look worse. If you need to do a second coat wait until it dries then go back and put a second coat. If you try to go back and add more before it’s dry you’ll just mess it up. This is the type of information it takes years to acquire through trial and error. if you don’t do it right, it’s a pain to remove and then you’re really getting into a sticky situation. So recap. Depending on the size of the chimney, and I would do med/ large sections at a time.
