Inferior soldering iron
I have used a dozen pieces from the package to solder/connect two wires together. The heat shrink insulators worked as expected but the solder never melted to join the wires together. I tried high, medium, and low heat at varying times and the solder never really joined the wires together despite overlapping each other. As I have observed, the only reason why the wires got connected is because the heat shrink insulation shrank around the wires thereby tightly putting them together. The solder? It was hardly affected by the heat from the heat gun. I don't think it's even genuine soldering material. Will I by this particular item again? NO! I will try a different brand.

Very strong.
I had never used these before so I was a little iffy when purchasing them. I tested them to join two pieces of wire and wow, very strong. Once I melted it with a heat gun I could NOT break the connection with my hands. I pulled very hard and it did not come apart at all. Ended up using various sizes of these to replace the wiring to my Jeep fan speed switch.

Makes nice tight sealed butt connections with little effort or mess
Not as much work as soldering and heat shrinking connections but just as good or better without the mess or precautions necessary when soldering. Much easier than soldering and more accurate than hand crimping unless you have an expensive hydraulic crimping tools. I heat shrink the ends to ensure the wires wont pull apart then just enough heat to melt the solder or if you use the helping hands tool it doesn't matter where you start. Have not had any over melt as other reviewers have mentioned and most my connections look like nicely tinned solder connections.

Awesome connectors
I was somewhat skeptical of this product, but it exceeded my wildest expectations. The connections are tight, well sealed and low profile. They also retain flexibility that approaches the original wire. Soldered and heatshrinked connections are bulky and stiff - and arguably inferior to a good crimped connection. These combine the mechanical bite of a crimp with the low resistivity of a soldered connection. I used these when making harness connections in my Subaru swapped Vanagon and have been very pleased. They do not appear to have glue in the heat shrink, or at if they do it is very light. I would prefer that but the heat shrink seals well and I have no concerns with the shrink in this application. I'll buy more when I run out.

Work great! Need a "funnel" on a heat gun for best results.
I used a bunch of these, mostly the blue size, on an automotive project. They worked great, but it is important to concentrate the heat on the solder and avoid putting too much heat onto the wires. To do that, I used the "funnel" attachment for my heat gun that you see in the picture. Without this, it was impossible to get the heat where I wanted it. My heat gun is very old (30+ years?). Maybe newer heat guns are better?

Perfect for fixing robot mower wire.
I have a perimeter wire around my yard, used for a robot mower (A roomba for grass). Either my dogs, or some critter regularly chews through some part of the wire ever few months. I have to track down the break and fix it. These have been a life saver. They hold up to the weather, and are easy to install, so far none of the dozen splices I have to install have failed. I am writing this review as I order more.

Very difficult to use
My experience is that the solder melting temp is often higher than the temp that the heat shrink outer plastic can handle, so it melts the plastic beyond just the heat shrinking before the solder melts to hold the wire together. The results have not been good. I've gone back to crimp and heat shrink fittings or solder and heat shrink if you need a solder'd connection. I liked the idea - but they were not very useful in practice.

Works perfect.
I bought this kit to splice a new pigtail connector to match up with a new AC compressor on 2006 Honda Odyssey. I used a hot air gun and it worked perfect. This kit has different sizes, so I think it is important to match up the right size with whatever gauge wire you are connecting, using a connector that is too big, might not allow the solder to work, or the tube to seal correctly.

excellent product
using a heat gun on low setting worked perfectly for my little wiring job in my Jeep; wish the sets were more customizable in terms of which diameters could be ordered as I didn't need all of them

very small diameter so can easily slip on shielding and/or heat shrink if needed afterwards
These things are prefect for those tight jobs where a welder just won't work. Very clean, very small diameter so can easily slip on shielding and/or heat shrink if needed afterwards. I use these all the time now!

It didn’t work
I tried very hard to make this work to connect my car speakers wires, no matter what I did it wouldn’t hold the wires so, I went to Canadian tire and bought the regular crimp on connectors.

So far so good
Only used them once, could possibly go up to 5 stars!! They seem to work great!!
