O'Neal Commander Bluetooth Helmet

The thought of a helmet with built in bluetooth at the price point was too good to be true, I think. While I'm able to stream music relatively okay, phone calls are absolutely impossible, even when stopped. I can hear fine, the person on the other end can't understand a single word I'm saying, get's frustrated and hangs up. It's never worked clearly, not even on Day One. I figured, meh... it streams music I'll live with it. Well, after living with the helmet for over a month, and switching between this helmet and a 10 year old Shoei, the old tech Shoei still is so much quieter. Even with that, I could still live with it. That is... until I got caught in a rain storm. Now, I will admit, this was a HEAVY downpour that I had to drive in, for about 10 solid minutes. It was an absolute deluge. And with THAT, ended the life of my Oneal Commander's bluetooth life. It's completely dead. Won't power on, won't charge, nada. When I plug it in, it flashes red ONCE, then goes dark. So, about the warranty... Within 30 days of purchase, you go to O'Neal, outside of that, you go to BLINC. I called their number and was told that the department that deals with that, is gone for the day. Fair enough, he was kind, took down my info and promises a callback in the morning. We'll see, I suppose. Even assuming the helmet gets replaced, which I'm assuming it will, don't get your hopes too high like I did. I'll still keep it, I suppose. Hell, I even bought a second one, just so my passenger and I can chat when we ride. But, it's a budget helmet, at a budget price, so gauge your optimism accordingly. I've since purchased another Shoei and Bell RS-1 for days I'd rather ride quiet... Your mileage may vary. Will update on the warranty process.

Arrived quickly and product is as advertised. The helmet is what you would expect for the price. How they were able to put bluetooth in it for this price is baffling to me. I can hear my music up to 130 mph. The fastest I've been going during a call was 80 mph, i could hear them and they could hear me just fine. I've been using this helmet for 2 months and I've gone more than a week a couple times without having to charge the batteries. Can you spend more and get a better helmet? Yes, but this thing in my opinion is worth every penny.

It is my first motorbike helmet so I don't have any other compare with, but it is really good. I have seen many other at the store I bought my bike from and this helmet really looks awesome in comparison to other that are really more expensive. So, in the looks, aesthetics side it is 10 out of 10. The matte finish is something I really loved.Ventilation is quite OK, but it get foggy sometimes, when riding at low speeds on a sunny day, but not critical to me. You can just open the visor a little bit and that's it.Outstanding battery duration. It lasted almost a month without charging again on a 5 day use every week. 2 hours per day.Paired to my phone work OK, with no issues most of time.It would be great if the audio could get more bass, especially if you think speakers are enclosed and that would helped, but anyway, audio quality is average.I would definitely recommend it. Price tag is great too.

Service, price, packaging all excellent. I am disappointed with the quality of the cell phone connectivity. I can hear very well but cannot be understood on the other end.

This is a awesome helmet. It has bluetooth built in that let you take incoming calls or listen to music. It can go rider to rider with 1 other person. Has spring loaded sunglasses just push button and they come down. Screen seems fairly fog proof. Helmet looks nice and sits comfortably. Used Oneals size guide and fits perfect.

Seems like a great helmet but sizes run small. By the Oneal chart, I need a small, just in case, I ordered a medium. Still too small, had to send it back and get a large.

Helmet works great but when they ship it . It look like they just threw it in the box... Charger was out of it pack "in the helmet" the visor was popped off and have one scratch on the helmet!!!

This is my first motorcycle full-faced helmet so I have no point of reference to draw from.Bought the helmet primarily for cold-weather riding. I have an XL head that was approaching the max according to O'Neal's fitting guide for the size. Helmet felt very snug for the first few days but I think it has broken in and is quite comfortable. The helmet instantly paired with my iPhone 6 with no issues. For music playing the speakers are pretty tinny when out on the road but I can still hear what's going on when doing down the highway or in windy conditions. I supposed you really don't want to be completely immersed in the music when out in traffic so you can still kinda hear things going on around you on the road. I've not taken a call while riding yet so can't really comment on that feature.The helmet does well in the cold weather. I've been out in the 40's at a pretty good clip and the only part getting cold was my exposed neck. There is some minor fogging when at a stop but don't consider that a major issue. I've not had any issue with the visor moving up while going down the road. I've been in high speed and windy conditions without a problem. I believe anyone having that issue should check with the manufacturer.**One word for the wise: Turn this helmet on BEFORE you put it on your head. The alert that comes out of the speakers is very loud (almost painful).
