Review: Good product, good price. - I am new to home fitness (well, in the spirit of full disclosure, I'm new to fitness in general - ha ha) and this is my first bench, so please take that into consideration when reading this. The bench came quickly, a day or two before the estimated delivery time. It took a bit to assemble - you definitely need TWO wrenches (or socket sets) to assemble this bench, and about half an hour to 45 minutes. Still, nothing difficult, it's quite easy to assemble - just take your time. Once assembled, it's really a nice product, for home use. It's sturdy, functional, comfortable, and attractive. It's not made like the heavy duty benches made of steel I-beams I find at the gym, but that's not what I need - and for the price, it's a bargain. Contrary to what I've read in other reviews here, it's not too short for me - I'm 5'7", and I'm pretty sure it would be fine for folks several inches taller than me. Also, someone said that it was wobbly, due to the feet not being level. I have not found that to be the case at all, and besides, it has adjustable levelers on it's feet. Also, the padded rollers that hold your legs down (I'm sure there's a name for them, but I don't know it) are quite handy for doing sit-ups, and several other exercises. All in all, I feel that this was an excellent purchase. Good quality at a reasonable price. I'm quite happy with my "Cap Barbell Fitness FID Bench", and I'd recommend it.
Review: Good for the price IF assembled carefully - if you are careful assembling the gazillion pieces that come in the box, you will have a serviceable exercise bench. I got mine mainly to do sit ups while I watch TV and to lift weights under ten pounds. There is a sheet of exercises that comes with the bench. I was very careful assembling the bench and I used the box it came in to help me align pieces (see photos). Some of the rubber and plastic parts come already put together. You do have to both read the instructions and study the diagrams. Be careful, when tightening several bolts in a single area to not fully tighten any one of them until they are all close to completely screwed in. When they are all almost completely screwed in, then tighten each one. If you tighten one before you have put any others in, stuff will get out of alignment and be impossible to assemble so everything meets up as it should. You will need scissors to cut tape and cable ties. Get yourself a towel to wipe your sweat and have a drink nearby because you'll probably need these! Although 2 adjustable wrenches are recommended, I used one adj wrench and some adjustable pliers. What I wish I had had was either a second person to help me or else, a set of sockets or those wrenches that come in specific sizes. If you can get the main frame (front and back and center supports) together without getting too frustrated, the rest is fairly simple. A note on the lock nuts: the wider end (without the nylon) goes on the bolt. There is blu-ish stuff on the slightly tapered end of the lock nut inside the hole. That's nylon that helps lock things in place. It makes a tight seal so that's why you'll need something to hold that nut still while you use something else to turn the bolt. I think that if you are over about 5'10" or are a long-bodied or long-legged person or are a very large-framed or excessively heavy, bulky person, this bench might be too small or uncomfortable for you. I'm 5'4" tall and it's fine for me. Everything seems to be made well enough, and I will repeat again, IF put together carefully. It took me about 2 hrs from opening box to finishing cleaning up. I believe at least 30 min could've been cut off that time if I'd had a helper or a set of those sized wrenches. I think the bench is nice-looking, with CAP embroidered on the backrest and is well-worth the money. It has a brown seat and backrest with black trim (see photo) and looks nice. The fabric is just stapled on but it's okay at this price level. So far, so good! Four stars because it is kind of a pain to assemble and something this cheap can't have five stars. But it's not shoddy. It will work okay for a home exercise bench.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great versatile bench

ASSEMBLY: Probably the best assembly instructions I've seen in a long time. It comes with a card with all hardware clearly labeled. Then page 5 of the manual comes with a breakdown of the parts so you can easily lay them out for assembly. It was a joy to put together and took a little less than half of an Eagles, The Very Best Of album. They say you need two adjustable wrenches, a hammer, standard and phillips screwdrivers. I didn't need any of that, although you could assemble it with two adjustable wrenches if you had to, I didn't. What I used, which made it very easy to assemble was a metric socket set; an M13, M14, two M17, and two M19 sockets. As well as two ratchets. You could hold one side of STEP 1 E; with a M17 wrench, pliers, or adjustable wrench, tighten it with a ratchet on the other. But I prefer a ratchet on either side as it makes it easier and faster for me. Also STEP 2 B is the same method except with a size M19. Also Step 1 A: The unit came with this already done. Step 2 A; the first two sentences were already done as well. Then Step 3 E: says to lubricate Foam grips (#16) with water. This really works. They went on easily once I put a little water on my finger and ran it down the inside of each of these. Complete step 1 and 2 with the bolts just finger tight so there is plenty of play in it to get the others to line up easily. Then after all of Step 2 go back and tighten everything up before starting Step 3. USE: The backrest is about 2 inches too short for my head. With my feet locked behind the foam feet tubes, the back of my head is not supported well by the backrest, the crown of the back of my head is just over the backrest. I'm 5'11" so if that's important to you it may be too short for you. But I only lock my feet behind the feet tubes when I'm doing ab work, and it's not imperative that my head rest on the backrest. For all my chest work, I can slide my kiester down to the top foam tubes, then my head rests on the backrest. If they had a backrest that was just 6 inches longer it would be great for people up to about 6' 5". The footrest base folds in so you can easily move it or store it. It's very easy to adjust the backrest to the four positions. It appears and feels solid, like a bench that will be useful for many years to come. My old bench that this one is replacing did not appear as sturdy as this one and lasted over 20 years. CAUTION: Use of this item as a clothes hanger or dust collector may result in added flab around ones middle, arms, and chest.
