Progressive International PL8 Mandoline (Slicer, Red)

Love, love, love this product! I researched many products and reviews before selecting the PL8 mandoline. It is very sturdy, easy to use, and easy to clean with lots of options available without having to swap out anything. The blade is very sharp and cuts through like butter. I like that the knife edge recedes into the bed for safety when not in use.I used it to cut thinly sliced potatoes with the hand guard and all was cut evenly except evenly for a very thin slice at the end (no wasted potato). There was no issue with the prongs on the hand guard hitting the blade. Using the kickstand, there is plenty of room to put a plate or small tray under the unit to catch the slices.

For advertising proffesional blades the installed blades just are not sharp enough I bought this item to make chips but the dial doesn't cut them thin enough

Hard to operate. Slide gets in the way. Hard to clean parts not removable. Stand bar gets in the way when slicing.Stands to high to bowl for slicing. Aquard. I had a OXO Good Grips V-Blade Mandoline Slicer for 5 years and the hight adjuster fell appart and I thought I was upgrading to a better product was very disapointed.

Had to send this back, plastic part broke trying the unit out the secobd i got it out of the box even without grating food.I wish they made it all metal. I love how the unit easily interchanges the blades though. Would consider getting it again but would be worried it would soon break again.

The only trouble I had was trying to adjust the thickness of the slices and flipping the blade over. Those two knobs require you to pull them out to lower or flip them and if you have any moisture on your fingers they are hard to grip and turn. However, it's very sturdy, super sharp and easy to use and clean. It sliced an onion for hamburgers so fast my eyes didn't have time to tear up! I love it.

I wish i would have bought the cuber instead of the standard one. this works well is easy to clean and is durable. plenty of adjustments to keep me happy. works well and when i finally break this one I'll buy the one with the cubing option next

Doesn't cut very smoothly. It's a bit of a headache to use, not very sharp.

Got this as a gift, replacing a $10, 2 year old Mandolin from Ross.I miss the old one. This is very awkward and the "safety" on the protector mechanism flaps around uselessly, creating several near misses as I tested it out. I can't get it to do sweet potatoes and my carrots were sloppy and took entirely too long. The holder part isn't secure AND crushes whatever is in it. This was a gift and probably not a purchase on Amazon, so I guess I can't return it, but there's no way I'd keep it otherwise. Complete trash and dangerous to boot. Glad I didn't spend my money on it.
