Big rubber ball
It's a big rubber ball.Bigger than I expected, to be honest - It's almost as big as a basketball. Not a problem, but I've used some that are smaller for the same weight. The whole surface is textured rubber. Easy to grip. Neither pretty nor ugly - it just sort of is what it is.Smelled strongly of rubber for several weeks after opening it. Enough to kind of stink up my small apartment and leave an exhaust fan running. If you've already got a gym room set up it's probably fine but I wouldn't stash it in your bedroom closet unless you want to get a big headache smelling it while you try to sleep.I'm saying four stars because it works as advertised and is totally fine - but also kind of stinky, a little large, and not especially nice looking. If you can live with that, I think this is a solid choice.

100% happy
We bought some of these for our bootcamp gym and they have been awesome! They are beautifully made and I love the colors. We bought two 6lb, two 8lb, two 10lb and one 12lb. All the 6lb-10lb are the same size ball but are different weights, and the 12lb is significantly bigger which I don't really mind. If anything I wish they were all the size of the 12lb ball but I'm used to the giant soft medicine balls so I'm just a little biased ;) but I still love working out with these and so does everyone else.I read a couple reviews before purchasing and there were some reviews complaining that they tore open or broke completely in half, then I read further to find out they were using them as slam balls. THESE ARE NOT SLAM BALLS. IF YOU SLAM THEM, THEY WILL BREAK. I would have thought that was pretty straight forward but apparently not. If you've ever used a slam ball, you should quite obviously note the differences in the make and consistency of a medicine ball vs. a slam ball. So if you are in need of some great quality Medicine balls for a great price, you will be very happy with these. If you're in need of a slam ball, you're gonna have a bad time.I hope this was helpful for all those review junkies like me! I'll post some pics too :)

As advertised, but a little oily.
I've had this for about a week, and it's pretty much as advertised -- Gray, and 12lbs. It does the trick. I do have to say "Tacky grip for safe exercising" could afford a little improvement. The tooth of the grip could be a little more aggressive in my opinion, but it's not bad.The most surprising thing is that there is only one other review that mentions the slick oily coating that comes on the ball. There were grease spots on the cardboard packaging from where the ball was touching the walls of the box. It must be some kind of rubber conditioner to help preserve the rubber during shipment and shelf life. It's not a subtle amount either. It's enough to actually affect your grip, and it really should be removed before you can safely use it.TIP: I coated the ball with baby powder (any absorbent powder -- baking soda, talc, etc should work) and rubbed it into all the grooves of the ball. I let it sit for about an hour or two, and rinsed off the ball. You'll probably need a sponge or washcloth to scrub the powder out of the grooves.Cap should really include some care instructions with this item if it's not ready to use out of the box. I have no idea what effects removing this coating will have on the life of the ball, but it may prevent some accidental broken noses.Again, this feature is not a dealbreaker, it's just an inconvenience, and I think this will be a nice addition to my equipment in the long run. I'll update this review if something crazy happens in the meantime.I would recommend this product, but I would also recommend cleaning it before use.

Decent ball but a little too big at 12lbs
First off the product has a very rubbery chemical smell to it. It doesnt have the ridge feel of say a basketball to hold on confidently. For a 12lb ball that I had ordered, the ball is enormous, and I am not small. The ball is not dense. I wouldnt tbrow it around too much as I am worried it might pop. But at the price point I just think its a decent compromise versus gym quality balls at 2x the price

Horrible offgassing of VOCs in the rubber compound.
The only criticism that I have is the offgassing of Volatile Organic Compounds in the rubber. I unboxed the medicine ball inside the house, and I must say that the VOCs fouled the indoor air quality. I currently have the medicine ball unboxed in the garage. I will leave it there for a couple of weeks to off-gas. Hopefully the magnitude of the offgassing will reduce by then.Otherwise, it’s solid and durable and it looks good too.

Great for abs
It's a great medicine ball, I use it mostly for ab work. I've read from other reviewers that they've had problems using this doing some workout that involves slamming these to the ground. I'm not sure that's what these are for, but for the ab work I do, I have a slanted sit up bench where I place the ball on my chest and lift up. I sometimes use that same bench and face away from it where my lower body is extended. I place the medicine ball between my knees and lift up. There are other exercises you can do like sitting on the ground with your feet just above the ground as well as your upper body, and with the medicine ball in your hands you move it side to side. I think this is a great workout tool, just remember that abs are more about diet than anything else.

Does exactly what it was intended to do.
This is a great product! I gave it five stars because it is exactly as described. I work out between 3-5 days a week, and this medicine ball is a key part of my work out equipment. I have had this medicine ball for two months and am finding that it is very durable. I am 175lbs and the ball has no problem supporting my weight for various exercises (medicine ball triceps push up, push up with feet on medicine ball, alternating medicine ball push up, etc.) When I was shopping for a medicine ball there were many options, and it became a little confusing. I chose this one specifically because it was given good reviews and the price was reasonable. I am very happy with it and have not have any issues so far. I would recommend it for anyone in the market for a medicine ball.
