The CTS 500K Potentiometer is a premium replacement part designed specifically for USA-made electric guitars. ## Description

CTS 500K full size, short/split, knurled shaft, audio taper potentiometer. Aluminum bushing and shaft. 15% Tolerance. Each pot comes with nut, lock & dress washer. These are short-shaft pots (threaded bushing is 3/8" tall X 3/8" diameter), sized for USA-made guitars. The potentiometers are manufactured for TAOT by CTS. These pots are generally equivalent to the 500K pots distributed by Allparts as part # # EP 086 Note: This part is sized for USA-made guitars. If you purchase this for an import guitar, the openings will need to be enlarged to 3/8" diameter. Do not use short shaft pots if your guitar has a control plate. As a general rule Les Paul's made before 1977 will use short-shaft pots, but please double check before you order

Review: The gold standard POT - I bought these to replace the stock POTS in my Ibanez hollow body. These have larger diameter shafts than the originals (and 99% of the ones made overseas). You'll need a reamer (NOT A Drill) to make the hole diameter larger. A drill will ruin your day quickly. The knobs will also need to be changed if you're replacing the overseas version POTS. The install was easy and no issues with soldering the posts or case. Nice smooth operation with no noise.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will these work on a Stratocaster?**
A: If it is US or MIM. The bushing height is 3/8.  You typically use 1/4 bushing for pick guard mounts.  So you need a second hex nut as a spacer under the pick guard to have it match up correctly.

**Q: How tall is the shaft?**
A: About 3/8"

**Q: What size mounting hole is required?**
A: size3/8 inch standard imperial size. If your putting them in an import guitar you may need to widen the hole.

**Q: Made in USA?**
A: I believe these are all made in Asia. The only pots I know of made in North America are Bourns, made in Canada

This potentiometer got the job done and iI couldn't be happier to have a fully functional jazz bass again. I used this pot to replace the volume pot and it got the job done with no issues. Sodering is required to install it but it can be done by a novice with little experience such as myself.
