As it turned out, my ferritin levels dropped to the point where my over-erythropoietic marrow was churning out pale and microtic blood cells (iron-restricted erythropoiesis), leading to hypoxia, which forced the marrow to crank out even more cells, spiking my hematocrit. My face was always red and my eyes were bloodshot. After a month of very delicately supplying iron (two of these per day), hematocrit started dropping back to normal and my exercise intolerance went away as oxygen levels improved.I had trouble with other multivitamins because they contained a huge amount of preformed vitamin A palmitate, which would cause overdose on my twice-a-day schedule. This one has regular beta-carotene, which your body uses as needed.
