The reason for the brace on those things, is that usually the bands on those are too strong for the slingshot and the type of shooting most people do. You need some sort of brace just to be able to pull the bands back while your arm is still shaking from the pressure. Proper aiming in such a pose is moot. It’s not the pounds of draw that makes a slingshot have punch. It’s how quickly the bands recover and the size of band for the ammo you’re shooting.
