Terrible product, don't waste your money. These patches are tricky to get on- I usually waste 2 or 3 before I get it right and they fall off the instant you put anything close to your mouth. I'm lucky if I can keep it on for an hour.I use the Compeed patches instead and they work great. I carefully apply abreva or acyclovir ointment and place the patch over it. The patches are unmedicated, but help keep the abreva/acyclovir on. They also helps keep the cold sore clean which prevent infections. They help significant when it gets to the scab phase. I've noticed that when cold sores are weeping, they fluid dries and forms a scab/crust on the cold sore and that's when it gets really ugly and noticeable. The patches prevent the fluid from drying so overall, the cold sore is much less noticeable- usually when it gets to this stage, there is a light red mark on my lip but the blisters aren't obvious. I feel like the cold sore also heals a faster- maybe because the medication stays on longer and there is less risk of a secondary infection. Or maybe because it's just less of an eyesore so it doesn't bother me as much. I also skip the cracking/bleeding phase so that helps it heal faster, I'm sure. This patches might not do much in making the cold sore less contagious (Compeed does not claim that they do), but it keeps the fluid contained so it must help a little. I'm still very cautious about it. The patches actually stay on for up to 12 hours so while they can be a little pricy, I feel like it's worth the investment.I take Acyclovir pills while I have a cold sore as well. I'm on day 4 and my cold sore isn't causing me any pain and it's not very obvious at this point.I just ordered the Lipzor laser which has gotten great reviews. I am hoping that helps me as well.

DO NOT BUY
Not a solid product.. I'm not sure if the package I received was old but my patches would not remove from the protective liner and were completely useless. Waste of money. Do not buy

It works if you read the instructions.
I bough this Abreva at Walgreens and it was super expensive, I could not believe how quick it arrived at my house. I really helped me with my cold sore and it is super easy to put on.

What's the point?
These suck. They don't do anything at all...except pull your skin off when you need to remove them. Also, the box I received was already opened and missing a couple of patches, but I wasn't able to get a refund on the purchase.Never. Again.

even though it does look like a small bandaid on your face, its better then the alternative and It works just a well as the cream.

It did its purpose
This is probably the best thing for people who suffer from cold sores. Although i only used to for a very small one and it did cover it well, i am not so sure if the same result can be achieved for sores that are on the big side. But I'm sure anything that will help minimize its appearance is always worth a shot.

poor
it is not medicated - they did say that - but I did not understand from that it was only a bit of plastic that sticks to your skin so you could put makeup over it. I believe it actually makes it longer to heal.
