Its no Niterider Lumina, but then again its price is a small fraction of one so you can expect some - livable - compromises. Unfortunately the version 1 mount, which was well thought-out, was susceptible to breakage thanks to the kind of plastic they used. This v2 mount is essentially a thick rubber band and it works fine. Definitely more survivable than the original and low cost as well. I have used similar band-type mounts from Blitzu for their various Cyborg bar mount lights and they are just about as good as it gets for band mounts. Of the half dozen I have, none have ever broken and I ride in hot sun and freezing cold, rain or shine. However as others have noted it can slip a bit. Now, one of the nice things about the Gator 390 is its so small and lightweight. As such it doesn't want to move anywhere near as much as your typical, heavier light that contains an 18650 cell inside for a battery. So it doesn't need to be as sturdy. However, if you want to solidify the mount for next to nothing, just get a bit of silicone sealing tape and wrap a layer around your bars where the mount is going.
