I've used this adapter without a problem with a few different components with lengths way under 1000ft and never needed a termination resistor. You may have to double check line length and baud rate to verify propagation delay in nanosec to confirm whether you'll need a terminator. It works really good... and I find it surprising it says Mini; I don't remember it saying that back when I bought it.
