I am very happy with the Tascsm recorder. It came with very good earphones and has two built in microphones that produced good quality. I use an external microphone I purchased separately. Previously I had been using apps on my IPhone and Kindle and PC with very mixed results; mostly a muddy sound. The Tascam gives me a very clean crisp sound and my recordings are only limited by my poor skill and voice. The instructions are great. There are diagrams showing you exactly what button to push and when. There is a tremendous flexibility built in, that I’ve only just begun to plumb. I wish there were additional physical switches for a built in equalizer. I have not attempted yet to use the equalizer function built in as it seems too complicated. But I’m sure before long I will figure it out too. There is an edit function that is very useful. With the track edit button you can copy, move, paste, insert, silence and clone tracks. With the clone feature I have been able to duplicate a track that recorded well and paste it into a blank track. If there are parts of a track that are bad with other parts being fine, you can remove just that section without effecting the other parts or making the overall track shrink. This function gives terrific flexibility to the system.UPDATE: It has begun to act up. Sometimes it has a breakdown and it locks up, telling you to shut it off. The problem is, that if you have not taken steps to save your work, hours of recording and processing is erased. At first this happened very seldom. Tonight, it happened every few minutes. Some of my best performances went up in smoke. I don't know if it is a memory card problem, so I will get a new card and see. If it is just having strokes, I'll have to see how good the warranty is. I may treat myself to a new more sophisticated version.

Just got this and I love it. I have interfaces and computer software for recording but have found getting things set up and maneuvering through software configs was taking all the fun out of playing and recording. I like this, it is old school recording with an easy interface to navigate. Plus can use it anywhere.

This is the coolest thing I own. I'm not totally wild about the microphones on here like some other people are, but it's nice they are there and is fine for my purposes. I mainly got this since I was sick of using a computer and wanted to limit myself. The portability is great and it's not that hard to use once you get the basics down. It would be extra cool if there was a couple more effects on it, but I'll take the reverb. Looking forward to using it more.

Works great and so quickly. I have the 24 track version in my main studio and this guy records my guitar and Rhodes sessions. It sounds awesome and gets the creative juices going right off the bat rather than switch hats to using a computer. No midi so you have to use it like tape. The limitation is actually really freeing to concentrate on multitrack playing rather than sequencing.

I prefer it over computer software. I was unable to create a wave file by reading the manual only, however I found clearer instructions on youtube and now I'm able to make wave files and export them to my computer and/or to cd

I wanted to make some simple multitrack recordings and this works fine for me. I like the portable aspect as that inspiration comes from anywhere. I does take a bit of learning because there are numerous features and not all of them are obvious. However, they all add to the quality of your recording which is better than just a straight record and playback.

The product came in a timely manner and was in good condition. For basic recording it is easy to set up and use. Still learning more about other functions. It is very portable and fits well in small places. Easy access to ports makes it a hit with me. Great for amateur musician! Only problem is it doesn't work with Windows 10. Bummer! Other than that, great!

I have only just begun to use this, but I can already see that it’s a great product. The sound with the built in mics is surprisingly good. I still have a lot to learn about this device but it’s much better than I expected. I also have to thank Beach Camera as a small item was missing and I called and they sent the item out that day no problem. Great company to do business with.
