Direct replacement for older little chief smokers, works great.
Worked like a charm, my old element didn’t get nearly as hot as this one. If you use your box for insulation be careful with this element, the bottom of my cabinet was hot to touch, while my old one got warm at best. Made awesome smoked trout in about 3-4 hours instead of 8+ with the old one!

Order the correct size!
I originally ordered an element for my very old Little Chief Smoker. There was one listed for units older than 2004-ish, so that’s what I selected. It was too long. You have to measure!My return was taken and this new one was shipped out. I had it the next day. Great service.

the vendor needs to improve quality control standardas
The solder weld around the tubing for the element was sloppy and too big of diameter to fit through the holes on my little chef. It took a minute to recognize the issue and about fifteen to 20 minutes to carefully round the rough edges to allow it to fit through the holes . Otherwise it works fine.

Got the smoker for nothing because it did not work. Ordered this and now am getting my salmon smoked to perfection.

Poor quality control
I have an old Little Chief (purchased 25 to 30 years ago). Ordered this element as the smoker just didn't seem to be coming up to temperature- chips were not smoking and jerky was not getting done. Very carefully studied the new elements to ensure I ordered the correct style. The one I received was an exact replica of the old element and did fit my smoker model. Unfortunately, after preparing a batch of jerky and plugging it in, I found it was tripping the GFCI of every outlet I tried it in. I have to conclude there is a manufacturing defect that is causing a short in the element. I do not recommend this product.

Fits Little Chief - Won't Solve GFI Tripping
This replacement fits the old version of the Little Chief perfectly. If you are buying it because your smoker is tripping your GFI, this burner will not fix the problem. This burner bleeds current to the ground through the housing of the smoker, so it will still trip your GFI.

What was sent doesn't match photo and other details
The item listing states this is a replacement element for a Little Chief smoker, the photo is of a Little Chief element (old style version, #4) and the product code 9810-083-0000 (from Smokehouse Products web page) is for the element shown. HOWEVER, I received a replacement element for the Big Chief smoker, product code 9890-002-0000. These elements are not interchangeable.
