I couldn’t justify spending $55 on a branded item since I don’t typically like things that so blatantly display the name but when my box of Maldon ran low and I toyed with the idea of getting the bucket (yes you read that right, bucket) of salt vs. the box I decided, why the hell not? So I pulled the trigger on this bad boy, the bucket of salt, a box of the maldon smoked salt and a 3 pack of the travel tins. $100+ of salt/salt related items and two days later I couldn’t be happier! This salt pig is beautiful, the packaging is stunning and the box has great graphic design so it would make a fantastic gift. It holds a fair amount of salt (1/2-3/4c-ish) so you won’t need to refill often but it won’t go stale either. The bottom holds a smaller amount (1/8c-ish) and that’s where I put the smoked salt. Complaints? Only one: the top “rests” on the bottom piece more so than fits into it. With a bit of a push or clumsy salt grab you “could” knock it off the bottom piece. Hasn’t happened yet but I am careful. Now after too long of hemming and hawing over getting it, waiting quite a while for it to be back in stock and waiting some more I am proud to display my Maldon affinity in my kitchen. The branding is minimal, and the quality is superb. I have thought about getting other brands of salt pigs, but we primarily use Maldon Salt, and it is great to have the pig section for the regular salt flakes, and the tray for smoked.
