## Description

The Master Lock 175DLH Set Your Own Combination Padlock features a 2in (51mm) wide solid body for strength and reliability. The 5/16in (8mm) diameter shackle is 2-1/4in (57mm) long and made of hardened steel, offering extra resistance to cutting and sawing. The 4-digit dialing allows for thousands of possible numeric combinations. The Limited Lifetime Warranty provides peace of mind from a brand you know and can trust.

Review: Well made and sturdy lock for specific uses - Very nice combination lock for outside gates (I’m using 4 of these for garden gate latches) and trailer latches (which is where I first saw them). The combination is easy to set initially and the lock opens and closes reliably. You do have to push up on the body of the lock to unlock it after entering the combination. This is a little different from the more common dial type locks that you may have used on a school or gym locker which just require you to pull down on the lock after entering the combination. The lock seems sturdy and well made, certainly sturdier than the typical dial type gym lock. The combination is 4 digits and is entered on the bottom of the lock so you have to be able to rotate the lock to a horizontal position to easily enter the combination, otherwise you will have to get down under the lock and look upwards at the dial. Overall, I’m quite happy with these and may buy more for other uses.

Very nice combination lock for outside gates (I’m using 4 of these for garden gate latches) and trailer latches (which is where I first saw them). Why I specifically prefer the 175 series of Master Locks is because you can leave the lock hanging unlocked and clear the combination when you walk away. The Master Lock 175X series requires you to keep the tumblers set to the combination while it remains open. So you must close the shackle in order to clear the combination. With this lock, you can clear the tumblers while the shackle is open. This may be a small difference to some, but for us it is really important for convenience. The combination dials move freely from new. s with any outdoor lock that ensures sitting in the rain, we also recommend lubricating it only with a PTFE (teflon) dry lubricant. This is because the spray solvent will help to clean out some dirt accumulation, allow the lubricant to reach pervasively within the lock, then form the slippery yet dry lubricant coating. This dry lubricant does NOT dry sticky, and so dirt particles are less likely to stick to it. The long shackle is nice for latching where you need the extra inch of clearance. We are in a tropical area near the ocean, and so having the brass body and internals is essential for corrosion resistance. Any similar branded combination locks can be picked with professional tools. So know the level of security. It is a nice lock for the security level we want balanced against easy of use and durability. Highly recommended!
