Then squeezed dried by hand. This is the only maintenance that typically needs to be done. The diaphragm in the unit should last anywhere from 2 to 7 years. Longevity depends on the weather; hotter climates, i.e., Texas a unit will not last as long as it would in Washington. Back pressure against diaphragm due to clogged or poor diffuser design will also effect the longevity of the unit. A rebuilt kit is not necessary until the unit fails as the system should be ok for 4 to 5 days. After 1- 2 weeks the unit start to create a smell. **Q: Please explain the difference between this model & model el-80-15al?** A: The al has an attatched alarm. **Q: Do pumps like this need to be hardwired or does it have a cord with a plug attached?** A: No they do not need to be hardwire, because this pump came with a 120V plug in.
