I still rock my 936 iron, and genuine solder tips last forever in a hobbiest use case if you take proper care of them. It helps I use leaded solder 99% of the time leading to lower average temperatures, of course. Leave solder on the tip when turning the iron off and heat cycle the tip as little as possible.
