If you search for UNLINED copper mugs you will find them. The reason for the lacquer is to keep it nice looking, but you are not getting the copper. They even send some cards on how to take care of them. Just in case you don't read the cards, under no circumstance put this in the dishwasher, secondly do not scrub this with one of those rough sponges. Use soapy warm water with a washcloth or SOFT sponge and dry immidiately. I only wrote this part because some people said they didn't know how to take care of the copper. Well here you go :-) Lastly the mugs are copper, have you ever seen a new penny and then one that is 10 years old. Don't buy ANY copper mug expecting the shinny and new look forever. Copper oxidizes over time. As the company says, "it adds character."
