I love these utensils but personally, I find them a little too long. Are they metal or silver paper?** A: They are metal and no, they don't come off. I've had mine for at least a couple of years and they are still intact. They are heat resistant, sturdy solid construction, and they have the good grips handle. Very easy to use. The handles are not flexible and the scoops and spoon parts are not made to bend they're made to be used as a solid piece. Good thick plastic and rubber, appear to be scratch resistant and stand up to the dishwasher. Couldn't ask for more.
