The TM1602G does have the battery backup capability. The 1602G I have, came from my cable company with battery. The 1602A I got from Amazon is AC only. Or do i need to get a wireless router too?** A: this is Modem Only - you need to connect to it a wireless or wired router to use with multiple computers. **Q: I have 100 mbps service from optimum. will i get faster internet with the tm1602a than with the tm822 even though i only have 100mbps comming in?** A: You cannot get faster throughput via any modem than what you are receiving from your internet provider.
