Worth the dough
Amazing product. Be sure to follow instructions. I fed at a higher ratio after a few days and was so pleased with the outcome. I'm a beginner and this was great!

Wasted time and money.
I was so irritated at the mold - yes, mold - that showed up during day 3 of feeding. The jar was well washed and dried, I followed the instructions included to the letter, and on day three as I was about to feed the starter, in 3 places within the jar there were white cotton like puffs. When mold gets into the starter - it is now useless. I got was upset so I just got rid of it so I have no pictures to show you with. I am, however, rather disappointed.

Great quality and they provide directions!
The media could not be loaded. Omg!!! I was able to start baking the first week I started. Follow the directions!! Feed every day. I’ve already made so much and continue to feed and still going! If you don’t know how to follow directions you shouldn’t start making sour dough anyways. Also don’t expect to throw some flour in and be done, you have to be patient and love your sour dough!

Best sourdough starter I’ve ever used.
I can’t say I have any complaints. I’ve tried making sourdough starter on my own. Using store bought bread yeast, or just leaving a jar of flour and water out to ferment naturally. Every time I’ve done that the starter has a terrible taste, very sour, makes the bread taste more like lemons then bread. I end up throwing the bread out and the starter out. But this starter is very different. It activated in about two days. I used it to bake my first loaf of bread on day three. That first loaf came out kind of flat, more like a bagel then bread. But the second loaf came out perfectly! This starter has excellent flavor! Not too potent. Just a hint of sour. Takes longer to rise then store bought yeast but that is to be expected. I’ve baked two loaves of bread so far and made a batch of waffles. The taste is fantastic. So much better then the starter I’ve started on my own. I named my starter Frank because I knew a Frank who was an old guy who always looked grouchy but was actually a nice guy. That’s my starter. Frank. Frank is sitting on the counter right now bubbling away. He’s happy.

I think I just paid nearly $10 for yeast and a 10 step annouying program.
Ridiculously complicated minute amount of some lumpy looking yeast. A 10 step program guaranteed to annoy you for days. I should have known that coming from Bklyn and living there 58 years, not a likely place to buy sour dough starter, duh. Not exactly little house on the prairie. And I bought two and each was nearly $ 10 and when I tried to return one unused uopened sealed pkg, Surprise, I didn't read the fine print. I never heard of a product from Amazon not being returnable, No Refunds. What's up with that.Cannoli yes sour dough no.

A good way to get an organic sourdough starter going
I actually has a batch of this starter going with this product and made a wonderful tasting artisan bread but being my first foray into sourdough and bread as a whole, I did some things that caused that batch to go bad. Totally my fault for not doing more research into the Do's and Don'ts of sourdough starter. Like, Don't use metal utensils and Do make sure Everything is very clean and Do change and clean glass containers on a regular basis and Don't contaminate the starter or the jar with anything. A bit expensive but if you do it right, it's a one time expense. (First one was a gift)

Simple to use, follow instructions
After two days of uncertainty due to minimal activity in my starter, I began to doubt its vitality. However, on the third day, my doubts were dispelled as my starter culture experienced significant growth, more than doubling in size. It turned out that it simply required a warmer temperature to thrive. Now, I'm back to baking a loaf every other day, thanks to its gradual development, which conveniently aligns with my schedule. This product has proven to be an excellent investment, offering both quality and affordability.
