The Bosch GWS12V-30 12V Max 3 In. Angle Grinder is ideal for the pro who needs a compact powerhouse to get to those quick, difficult cuts in tight spaces other tools can't. With its brushless motor design and optimized gear structure, this efficient grinder produces 19,500 no-load rpm at only 1.5 Lbs. (tool only, not including battery). The grinder was engineered to fit the palm of a user’s hand, for outstanding ergonomics and control. This versatile tool is powerful enough to cut threaded rod, strut, conduit, tile and more. It features an innovative gear-mount design for fast wheel change; just pull the locking clip and unscrew the spindle screw. It also features fast braking time, stopping the wheel after the grinder is turned off.

I started building my Bosch 12V collection about four years ago when I purchased their drill set with multiple attachments. That drill quickly became one of my favorite tools, and I still use it all the time. I am a DIY enthusiast who enjoys fixing and building things around my house. I am also a doctor by profession, so I don't necessarily need heavy-duty professional tools for my everyday projects. What I really value is having compact, lightweight tools that are easy to grab and use whenever I need them. That is exactly where the Bosch 12V platform shines. This angle grinder uses a 3-inch disc and, importantly, comes with a brushless motor. With a 2.0Ah battery attached, the entire tool remains surprisingly lightweight and easy to maneuver. It is not intended to replace a full-size professional angle grinder for heavy-duty work, but for smaller household and DIY projects, I think it is an excellent choice. I have already used it for several projects, including cutting off excess portions of nails, making a hole for an HVAC duct, and cutting off extra portions of a fence. It handled all of these jobs very well. I have found the Bosch 3-inch grinding and cutting discs to be a particularly good match for this tool, and they have lasted a long time in my use. The compact size is probably the biggest advantage. You can easily get into tight spaces where a larger angle grinder would be difficult or uncomfortable to maneuver. I can see this being useful not only for DIY enthusiasts but also for professionals who occasionally need a small grinder for work in confined areas. There are a couple of things I would like Bosch to improve. First, there is no variable-speed control; it is essentially an on/off operation. Second, you have to continuously hold the switch while operating the grinder. I understand the safety reasoning behind this design, but after using it for a longer cutting job, holding the switch continuously can become tiring, especially while simultaneously controlling the tool and the material. Some other Bosch tools have a hold-on switch, so I would personally like to see an option like that in a future revision, while still maintaining the necessary safety features. Despite that minor limitation, I am very impressed with this grinder. The combination of a brushless motor, 12V battery platform, 3-inch disc, compact size, and lightweight design makes it extremely useful for everyday DIY work. Overall, this is not a tool I would recommend for someone who needs to perform heavy-duty grinding or cutting all day. But for household repairs, small fabrication projects, cutting nails, trimming metal, HVAC-related work, and other occasional jobs, it is an excellent tool. If you are already invested in the Bosch 12V ecosystem, I think this is a very worthwhile addition. I would definitely recommend it to DIY enthusiasts and professionals who need a compact grinder for tight spaces.
Review: Good product - Good little grinder but it has a bad design on the switch. Very hard to keep the switch on and keep the grinder running. I do think it's a flaw in design. I returned the first one because of the switch but the 2nd one has the same problem. Thinking it might be operator error, we kept it and used it. Since we don't use it often, the warranty ran out and we could not return the tool. I need to call the company to get some feedback. The size is great for my small hands. Also the batteries don't hold a long charge. I use for Horse Hoof Trimming. I have 2 genuine batteries so I can switch them out while I work, if they get slow. The tool works but the switch is a pain to use. If I could, I would return this. Price is too high for the hassle with the switch

Bosch 12V is one of my favorite tool platforms. I started building my Bosch 12V collection about four years ago when I purchased their drill set with multiple attachments. Good little grinder but it has a bad design on the switch. Very hard to keep the switch on and keep the grinder running. I do think it's a flaw in design. I returned the first one because of the switch but the 2nd one has the same problem. Thinking it might be operator error, we kept it and used it. This is a great little grinder if you’ve already got the Bosch 12 V ecosystem. It’s really handy because it fits in very tight places where my Dewalt 20 V max grinder won’t fit.
