Review: Great Drive but Arconis Didn't work - I wanted to add a second SSD to my system as my original Samsung SSD is almost 10 years old. Black Friday sealed the deal. As my home build only had two bays and they were both in use, I bought the Corsair Dual SSD Mounting Bracket which allowed me to put the old SSD and new SSD in the same bay (they stack on top of each other). I also planned to clone the new drive as a boot drive. When I ran the Arconis program (that you download off the WD website) and waited two hours I got a warning from Windows (when I tried to boot) that the new drive was corrupted when I tried to boot from it. I made two attempts. It just wouldn't work. A YouTuber had recommended the trial version of Macrium Reflect cloning software. I downloaded that and followed along on the provided video on their website. Super easy. I did have to go into the BIOS to change the boot order as I left the Samsung in place as a backup drive. Overall the WD drive works perfect but I recommend using Macrium to clone the drive.

Although it is 8 years old, I bought it with good specs...Pentium i7 and 16 GB of RAM. I considered doing a factory reset, but read something that SSD (solid state drives) can speed it up, so I decided to give it a try. Wow - what a difference in speed. Booting up is almost instantaneous. The Acronis True Image software is included. I did get a complete duplicate of my existing hard drive, but some programs weren't opening so I ended up reformatting the SSD and reinstalling Windows and all my software, which took many hours, but now everything works great. I watched some YouTube videos about how to install a new hard drive, so I recommend doing that if you are not familiar with the inside of your computer (mine is a desktop).

**Q: ssd 3d mac early 2011 compatibility**
A: I installed this drive yesterday into Late 2011 MacBook Pro and swapped out the two 2gb RAM sticks with two 4gb RAM sticks. The new speed and performance is amazing. You will need a USB to SATA cable to connect the new SSD to your MacBook to clone the hard drive.  I downloaded freeware called Super Duper to clone drive. Then I removed ten tiny screws to access back of laptop. Four more screws hold hard drive in place and four star drive screws have to be swapped onto new SSD. Download the user guide from Apple for your model for steps and pictures of operation. The memory swap was easy, just plastic tabs holding sticks in place.

**Q: Will this work with win xp sp3?**
A: I have a Western Digital 320GB 10,000 RPM Velociraptor in my old XP machine. I keep it for offline use with the programs that I do not want to upgrade. They work fine, so there is no use in spending money on newer versions. The XP machine is old, but I built it well and it is as fast with XP as most new machines are with bloated 7 and 10. If you can't find a reasonably priced WD Velociraptor, then a WD Blue 7200 RPM drive will put new life into your old XP machine. I will keep mine until lightening, or something as sinister, destroys it, but it doesn't go online anymore.

**Q: What’s in the box drive, wires, etc...?**
A: No wires, just the 500 GB SSD.

**Q: If i use a sata to usb 3.1 cable, will this work on my xbox one s?**
A: You need a USB 3.0 SATA III Hard Drive Adapter Cable for 2.5 Inch SSD & HDD

I wanted to add a second SSD to my system as my original Samsung SSD is almost 10 years old. Black Friday sealed the deal. As my home build only had two bays and they were both in use, I bought the Corsair Dual SSD Mounting Bracket which allowed me to put the old SSD and new SSD in the same bay (they stack on top of each other). I also planned to clone the new drive as a boot drive. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Be Sure To Update Firmware With Dashboard Software

OK, besides the initial glitches with Windows, once I updated the SSD Firmware with WD/Sandisk Dashboard the drive worked perfectly! That said, my initial issues drove me nuts trying to update the firmware in Windows!!! I blame Microsoft more than WD for this instance. I would still buy WD drives over other SATA SSD's though because the firmware update process was seemless & I haven't encountered anymore faults since.
