It has a well-weighted pommel and a threaded tang but it's extremely solid it's not made for heavy duty cutting or to be used against another sword but for light cutting practice it does the job very well ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good, Real sword for the cost of going out to eat with the family... *by R***N on June 18, 2025* The fit and finish of the blade needs a bit more love, but it is a true full tang sword from good steel. I've taken the handle apart to check this and redo the grip, (it's a fabric cord wrap not ray skin as stated in the description, but I expected this based on the pictures.) and the handle is hard wood with a bamboo pin through it and the tang. The pin was off center on mine. It came quite sharp and only took about thirty minutes to an hour sharpening to bring it to a razors edge. I love the pommel. The scabbard (the fact it even comes with one is impressive) could be better but not for the price obviously. However, that being said my scabbard fit was outstanding it doesn't fall off the blade and can be improved easily enough. I'll be making a metal tip and throat for it, so it doesn't mar up the sheath if you bump it on a doorway while wearing it. (likely why historical scabbards usually had this on them lol) You will need a sword frog to wear this but anyone who knows their history will tell you that's accurate. I wore this all day in realistic circumstances without it slipping out of the frog.For the price I 100% recommend it. It's a real serviceable weapon for a fraction what others would ask for it. Like I said, it just needs a bit of love to make it great.EDIT: The leather was NOT real, but a fabric cover turns out. I've redone the handle, took the fake leather off the sheath, fabricated brass fittings for it and finished the wood with an ebony stain and semigloss finish. The cross guard I reforged to have the proper curve to it so incoming blocked hits from an opponent don't ricochet into you and instead get trapped (also keeps the end of the guard from biting you in the wrist). There is a reason historical cross guards were not perfectly flat bars. The new handle is made of maple and custom fit to the tang of the sword. It came with an off-center bamboo pin through the very loose stock handle and the tang. It's not necessary with a properly fitted handle so that's gone, and I welded the hole to repair it. I threw away the string it was wrapped with and replaced it with reddish brown suede lace. It's fricking GORGIOUS now.Even with all the work I had to put into it to get there I would still very much recommend it for the price but be prepared to put in the time (and have the tools) to get it to a high quality fit and finish standards. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ So close!!!! On paper, dimensions and weight it seemed exactly what I was looking for.Don’t get me wrong, this is a great sword. The handle has a nice wrap, sturdy construction. And the blade had a working edge, fairly sharp.Here’s why I gave it 4/5 and why I ultimately returned it to find something more suitable for my needs.First off in the pictures you can see that the tip came slightly marred.Next, the blade is just slightly off, the grind on one side doesn’t match the grind on the other.And lastly, Other reviews stated that the cross guard was a bit large. I actually liked it. My only problem was that the edges were a bit too sharp. That’s nothing a quick file couldn’t fix…But ultimately for these three reason, I sent it back. At $120 at the time of purchase I was looking for just a little more out of the sword. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ At $130.00 a 10 star sword *by N***R on March 27, 2023* As stated by other reviews its solid and light, blade design is precisely what I desired, handle is comfortable the hilt is good but could have more rounded edges but at this price, I'll round them if needed, the pommal is nice its unscrews easily but it doesn't hold the sword together and it is plenty good. In the picture depicting their forging it has nice full tang, so it is solidly built sword. My only problem is it seems light for a sword 6mm thick, no fuller, 1095 steel, but it is only a 24 inch long blade and only 1 3/8 inch wide. Really one of the best feeling swords or large knife to wield, i just had a neighbors white pine blow over in my yard so I'll be testing this sword out, deffinantly wacking off a few limbs for sure will not attempt to cut the trunk of the tree, that's for my chain saw and axe. 1095 steel is tough and the 24 inch blade could be the perfect match for this steel. if tempered to hard longer swords in 1095 can snap because it is brittle, we dont know all the variables in the production of this sword but it should a great cutter and user where other swords are more decorative even though they are real swords, I'll end up buying their diamond patterned sister sword for sure.
