I reread the instructions, there is a button on the back when you take the cover off that says “set” press that button only one time to move the chimes forward one hour. Also there is a switch to silence the chime and toll from 11 PM until 0700. These switches are in the rear of the clock and are not available when the clock is mounted. I would caution buyers as per the instruction, read them ALL first before doing anything at all or you can create a headache for yourself. The instruction are easy to follow, but very important to read first before you do ANYthing. The pendulum is taped to the inside of the box. The clock keeps time well, the chimes sound good, not cheap, as other clocks I've tried, and this clock is solid wood. You can set it to chime 24/7 or to not chime between 10pm-7am, but for this it is very important to read the instructions as to keep the clock in sync with the chiming and the am/pm. I have mine set to only chime Big Ben on the hour with it ending the number of chimes for the hour. I really love this clock so far.
