Humidifier for extended use
The earlier version of this humidifier was a little easier to use, because you could sit the tank in the sink while you filled it up. The current design has a torpedo-shaped tank that you have to hold while it fills, after which you have to cradle it in your arms while you screw in the cap -- which is a little awkward. We run the humidifier non-stop once the heat in our house goes on in the cold weather, and the cool-mist principle is well-suited to this kind of use. The humidity diffuses pretty effectively through the whole house. We generally change the wicks (or filters) once a season, and clean the unit while changing the wicks. The earlier version of the unit which we owned first lasted for nearly 10 years, so even with the cost of additional wicks, it was extremely cost-effective. We wore out one of the new versions in about 5 years and are now on our second one. If this one lasts for five years, I'll consider it a pretty good investment.

Warranty honored
I bought this product in Feb. 2014. After the winter, we stored it and then we put it in use again when the weather got cold in December and the static electricity told us that the house was too dry from running the furnace. The humidifier ran about 1 month and then the fan stopped working. I noticed in the instructions that it had a 1 yr warranty, so I called the manufacturer's number and they were extremely polite and sent me a replacement with only 1 month left on warranty. I was happy because I really like this unit and actually have three in our home in different rooms. They run quietly and are easy to handle. This is the only one that gave me trouble and some I have had for 3 years plus.

Please help
ok so I have used these in the past and had no problem but the last two have leaked all over my floor. I would rate these normally give them 5 star but not sure what is going on. It is coming from the tank it self and not the seal. its has tiny air bubbles going up the side of the tank in the corner. No sure if its bad luck or if its quality control. Like i said i have returned one just like it not a week ago to get another one doing the same thing. Holmes Cool Mist Tower Humidifier HM630-NU

I owned a previous model which was louder when it blew air..this one is way quieter with the air BUT it makes a bubbly gurgly noise with the water. This noise constantly wakes me up. The older model did not do this and I am not sure why this one does. Had I know it was going to do this, I would not have bought this model again. I will say my last model lasted around eight or nine years.

One of my first Amazon purchases 16 yrs ago
I have had a love-irritation relationship with this humidifier. I have purchased many to replace it, but this has remained the most predictable, functional and dependable one I have owned, since 2007. Yeah, it is a bit of a pain to fill, but just use a jug filled with filtered water, and you'll be good for about two months before you need to change the filters. The lights on mine don't work any more, it makes some pretty terrifying gurgling sounds, it seems to need to be re-filled often, and it never turns off automatically (was it ever supposed to?), but it still fills my condo with wonderful moist air better than anything. About a week ago I gave it to my guy because I finally got a new one that I though would be great. I totally regret it now and want it back.

QC issues with the fan motor.
This unit is only a month old and as other reviewers have noted, the fan has quality control issues. It started rattling and making so much noise I could not use it at night. Not wanting to go through the hassle of a return, I took it apart and lubricated the bushings on the fan motor. This helped but I suspect the issue is going to present itself again. I chose this unit because I already have one of the same in the bionaire line and it has served us well, I guess all is not equal between the two.

Excellent!
I had a very hard time deciding what humidifier to buy, there's just so many. However, I went with the many reviews I read that said Holmes is the best brand and I am extremely satisfied with this product.I was concerned it wasn't going to give off enough moisture for the area I wanted because I use it for our living room and dining room/kitchen but it works great.Opposite of what some other reviews say, I find filling the tank and cinch. There's a convenient handle to carry it by once it's been filled and the cap is screwed on.Also, the amount of "noise" doesn't bother us one bit. We honestly barely notice it.This humidifier is easy to clean and operate. It's light-weight and takes up very little space. I also like the run options, as I often switch it up between manual and auto.I highly recommend this product.

Nothing special - might last a year, maybe not
The fan motor began rattling on night #3, but I'm hoping it'll quiet itself out with further use. The long tank isn't the easiest thing to refill, either--it barely makes it under the faucet in the bathtub and would be impossible in a kitchen sink unless it was a deep one, so if you've got a two story house with the bathtub upstairs and you're putting this downstairs, get ready for buns of steel. I only bought this because it uses the same filters as my last Holmes humidifier and I bought 4 of them before taking the humidifer out for the season and finding out the fan motor had quit.
