Read the instructions and this little water meter works well
If you are buying this, you need to know that it does not count up. It counts down. The one I have, you set the number of gallons that your filter will be good for and then it counts down to zero.I used to think we were using way more water from the filter than we actually were. Turns out that we are using less than the 500 gallons a month that I thought we were. Closer to 150 gallons for 2 people and 2 cats each month. But now we know that the filter is still good till the 1 year anniversary. The batteries appear to last a very long time. The display only comes on when you press the button, so I think that probably keeps the batteries fresh longer.I do wish it was a little thinner, but that is just a preference.

Leaks inside device.
It worked perfectly at first counted down and I didn't notice any leaks and it looked great. Then a few months later my whole under sink shelf collapsed due to a slow drip coming from this device and down the wall under the board the whole time. Not there's mold and rot that has to be treated because I thought I could save a few bucks with this thing... Do Not Buy without having constant supervision available.

It's ok
I did not remove any of the excessive Teflon tape on the threads and screwed them in very tightly had a small leak but stopped after I tightened it some more. Not sure if I trust how many gallons has been through the system seems excessively low but at least there is a day countdown to replace the filters

Cheap fitting break very easily
With the slightest amount of torque these will snap off and then it will be a pain to get out if you don't have the right tools. It's a problem because you're left with a very narrow window of tightening enough to stop leaks or too much where it snaps.I recommend ordering separate fittings or a similar cheaper offer that doesn't include the fittings so you can spend the difference on your own.

Lifesaver... Seems accurate.
Don't understand why under counter filter systems don't come with this. They always give you the gallon amount a filter is good for with an estimated replacement time or just tell you to wait till the water tastes nice and contaminated again. Never again with this.1 YEAR UPDATE:Few thousand gals and 1 year later, still working fine. No leaks, original batteries still going, alarm sounds as appropriate when it's time for a filter change or clean. One of my best purchases for the last year.

Should have trusted the reviews
Should have trusted the reviews, they're right, it doesn't actually count down. You can configure it but it doesn't work.

Not usable out of the box
Does not come with everything you need to to install it. Instructions do not explain what is needed or how to install on existing lines. Returning this.

Does not do what it's supposed to
I have another one of these on another system made by a different company (FLM-3) which works flawlessly. This unit does not count down, or give you flow rate etc.. The only way it comes on is if I push the button. It's supposed to come on immediately with flow. I will be sending it back. I've already ordered another FLM-3.
