Best 18V nailer on the market at any price!
Really pleased with this nailer. Needed one for some projects and didn't want to invest in an air compressor and all that gear. Easily sinks 3-1/2" nails into pressure treated lumber up to 1/4 inch deep below the surface over and over again, and the tool-less depth adjustment is easy to use and makes it easy to dial in the proper sinking depth for the nail length and material you're using. Got a great deal and needed to act if I wanted it for my upcoming projects and thus far I am very pleased with the operation. It is heavier than the pneumatic counterparts but it was something I was willing to accept since I'm not working professionally I don't expect to be lugging this around all day. The bag that comes with it is, well, cheap! but I paid for the nailer so I'm not to upset it would have been nice if they had upgraded it to some ballistic grade material but it is what it is, The charger is basic and functions as intended but it is loud and strangely has a light lit all the time when plugged in when there is no battery in it charging which is a bit annoying to me but I'll get over it! I would and have recommended this unit to friends and family, if you're on the fence rest assured this will make you happy you made the right choice.

Great gun for what it's designed for
All in all this is a great product, it unteathers you from a cord and compressors, and it sinks the nail more consistently than any pneumatic nailer I have used. It's not a plywood nailing work horse, but that's not what it was designed for. That being said there are a hand full of design flaws.CONS: The safety tip, the side claws are too short and often do not allow the tip to be fully depressed when trying to toe nail. 2: The 3 second time restriction on tip depression and trigger pull, it is extremely annoying when you are in a strained position trying to line up your work using the gun tip and it times out and you have to start over. I want a gun that fires every time the trigger is pulled and safety is depressed. And lastly the rafter hook is too big and cumbersome. I find it getting in the way more often than being handy. One smaller issue I had was with feed using halsteel 16d nails, the collation was too high on the nail rack and when pushed by the magazine spring, bent the angle just enough to cause misfires and one pretty serious jam.

Super heavy, buttons hard to use
Works great, shoots nails well, very very very heavy, and constantly have to use the button to turn it on cause it has auto off feature and it’s hard to see if it’s on or off in the daylight

So far so GREAT!!!!
This paragraph is a two month updated review.. I work for a kitchen and bath conpany in Denver CO, my duties are demo, framing, electrical, drywall and trim. So these cordless hitachi nailers are used often. The high altitude and cold dont seem to affect the nailer performance, though i dont work in the cold often. When the battery is near dead it has trouble sinking the nails but this is less of a problem than a compressors air pressure running low. The plastic strip framing nailer is consistant and strong with a rapid fire rate, I have shot 2 inch nails with it to hold 3/8" MDF soffet board up and it was very touchy thing to adjust the dept on this nail gun and that matiaral, wants to sinks the nail too deep. With 3 inch nails and 2x material and 2-3/8 inch ring shank nails for 1/2" and 3/4 ply/osb this framing gun doesn't skip a beat. This charger that comes with this guns is not Hitachi's best but it can definitely charge a second battery faster than someone can shoot 400 nails. At this point I can't see myself going back to a compressor and I gaurantee you would neither after a few months of use. I have the complete set finally. The smaller the gage, the bigger the tool size and weight trade off is. With the battery operated being more compact in size over the pneumatic framing nailer. As for weight you will have to man up to drop the compressor with this weight. This seems to drive nails just as fast as a pneumatic nailer, feels very durable also.

One Star
good tool to work

It takes 21 degree round head nails in a plastic or paper collated stick.
Have only driven 20 nails so far. Not heavy, seems well built. I took off a star for the manual. I'm a tech writer. I found the manual too wordy, the illustrations were difficult to decipher. Safety features are good, but sometimes it leaves you wondering why it stopped working. A few times, it stopped because a feature shuts it off when the nails get down to 6-11 in the stick. This seems wasteful. I used Hallsteel nails from Dunn Lumber. Maybe the Hitachi nails would work better (more expensive).Nice case.

Great all around nailer!
So I was a skeptic at first and I will say that the Hitachi is not an all day wall framer. That being said this gun rocks back framing, rolling joists and trusses. You will never use an airhose again on the roof. Small plywood nailing jobs awesome.Cons it only holds one rack of nails I'm sure this is weight and size conserving measure and some nails don't run through the magazine real well. All in all this is a great fun! I had the dewalt version I took it back after using this gun.

Used two of them for 7 months now and LOVE THEM
We build pools in Florida and use 2 of these guns each week for forming up pools and forming up for footings around the pools. We usually drive 2.5" nails but this drives a 3" nail with no problem. After 7 months of hard use, both are working fine. One of them needs spring replaced that puts tension on the nail rack, but it's so minor we haven't bothered yet.
