That's not super expensive vs. soda costs, so I didn't really think about a SodaStream until I visited my in-laws and they had this model and loved it entirely for making sparkling water. I splurged and bought one. The SodaStream Terra has replaced that and is better. Because of the method of carbonating by button push, I can do variable carbonation levels. It's easy to vary the level of flavor using either fruit (I bought a bag of limes), the drops, or no flavoring at all. I have not had to exchange my carbonation cartridge, but they have a process to do exchange so the old tube doesn't go into a landfill.
