You could smash it to pieces with a hammer no problem. But it is lockable (if you by a little travel bag padlock). I use it as a medicine cabinet. And it does look the part. Is it well made? Well, it could be made better but then it would be more expensive. You get what you pay for, and I paid for this and am happy with it ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A proper treasure chest *by A***S on 15 September 2019* Wonderful pirate chest / Keepsakes chest. Not the sturdiest of items, but strong enough. Really looks the part and is very well finished. Really pleased with the product. ### ⭐⭐⭐ A bit too light material *by J***M on 2 April 2024* This is a very good example of the sort of object that you should NOT buy online... it is an β€˜objet d’art' and I was looking to make an impression for a special present that will last for my godson for many years ahead. The price seemed about right at Β£29.99 but the quality of this item is poor. It's not badly made, but the fabric of the box is poor. The wood is very thin and it might be 1mm plywood put together with an air gun and some fake leather straps and powerful wood stain. Overall from a distance it might look quite good but close up it's just a little bit thin there's no way it would take any 'treasure' or anything substantial and it probably won't last that long if it gets dropped a few times. The actual design is quite good and I do like it but unfortunately its execution is certainly a bit on the cheap side. I think if I were really looking for a proper treasure chest I'd probably have to spend double again, or even make it myself. The packaging for the cardboard box the didn't have the usual Amazon filler so I was grateful that there wasn't any damage. There were indeed 2 keys in the box.
