This thing saved my life!
If you’ve ever find yourself in a position where a hard drive in a laptop or desktop PC has failed or has become unreadable, you’ll know what I mean when I say that trying to get them working when they’re set as the ‘boot’ disk can be incredibly frustrating; most of the time nothing will happen and you just get a variety of error messages, so you’re forced to look into alternative methods of getting access to the disk and the (potentially important) files that are stored on it.I experienced (or to be more succinct, my partner experienced) such an event recently when a laptop hard drive became corrupted and her laptop failed to boot. Running various diagnostic tools didn’t to cut the mustard and for all intents and purposes it seemed as though any chance of recovering the data on the disk was lost - so it wasn’t until, while browsing forums for suggestions on what to try next, someone suggested getting a USB to SATA connector as it was possible that I might be able to access the drive and retrieve the files, photos and stuff that she had on it.As you may have guessed already, I decided to order one of these Inateck ones in the hope that it would do the trick. The adapter arrived the next day, as is usual for Amazon Prime, and came in a totally frill-free package with no instructions to speak of, so by buying one of these, Inateck are assuming that you are at least somewhat adept in the art of IT-related shenanigans.I duly removed the adapter from the packaging, removed the 2.5” hard disk from my partner’s laptop, pushed the adapter’s SATA connector into the disk and plugged it into one of my laptop’s USB 3.0 ports. The disk was detected properly as a storage device but, as suspected, Windows was having problems reading it. I decided to run a ‘checkdsk /r’ command on the disk (something that even Windows 10’s built-in repair tools wasn’t allowing, weirdly) and I was amazed when it managed to successfully repair the bad sectors and iffy boot sector of the disk. A quick (proper) ejection of the USB connector and popping it back in caused the disk to appear normally in Windows Explorer and I was able to read the files on it.This was totally unexpected, so I now consider this little gadget to be an essential standby tool just in case anything goes wrong in future - it really saved my backside! It’s dead simple to use, connects easily and (provided the disk connected to it isn’t completely cream-crackered) should allow diagnostics and repairs to be done to it.Since it’s got a standard SATA connector on it, it should be good for all SATA storage devices, which means that it is good for nearly all 2.5” and 3.5” drives and will work for SSD as well as traditional mechanical hard disks. All in all, this has been a fantastic purchase, so five stars for Amazon and five stars for Inateck!

100% recommended
Such a well made device, connects to a sata HDD easily and securely. I have mine connected to 2.5" ' laptop' sata HDD, works perfectly, true plug and play, has a small unobtrusive blue LED to,confirm correct connection and flashes during disk activity. Can thourghly recommend this.

DC Input 12V 2A positive polarity with 5.5 x 2.5 barrel tip. Mounted as SCSI device
I bought the USB adapter only version (without the power plug) because I figured I already have a few 12V 2A positive DC adapters lying around the house that I use for other devices so why spend another £10 extra (for the adapter + power plug version) and collect yet another power plug.Well turns out this adapter requires a DC power plug with 5.5mm x 2.5mm barrel tip and all the power plugs I currently own have the more standard and popular 5.5 x 2.1mm barrel tip. So was a bit miffed about that as it meant a delay to me using the adapter while I sourced a converter for the barrel tip. Found a set on a well known auction site for a couple of pounds which will also no doubt come in handy for other things with weird power sockets. The USB to SATA adapter itself works well to get access to 3.5" SATA hard disks in conjunction with a DC power plug. However seems to be detected on Windows as a SCSI device on my Windows 10 laptop and I have found it difficult to 'Safely remove' device once I'm done with it as it complains that something is still accessing the USB even though resmon shows no disk activity and I have exited all explorer windows. So for now I have been keeping it connected and only removing once laptop is shut down to avoid corrupting the data on connected HDDs.

Rock Solid SATA adapter! Great for Macbook SSD upgrades!
I bought this brand of adapter because I've used Inateck products before and they are always 100% reliable. A few years ago I bought the Inateck USB 3.0 SATA enclosure and it still works perfectly today. What I like about this particular adapter is that it's totally integrated into one piece - just plug and play - no separate cable - no drivers needed. I've used this adapter to upgrade my 2011 Macbook Pro from HDD to SSD and it was so easy. Just attach the SSD to the Inatech adapter, plug it into the Mac, backup the internal HDD drive to the SSD, then just replace the HDD with the new SSD. My boot up time went down from 90 seconds to 15 seconds! It's like have a brand new Macbook! One more thing... the low price of this adapter is Amazing! I only paid 8.99!HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! AAA+++

Robust
It's fits 2.5" HDD perfecly and is fast as well. But their is no instructions manual for what that power line is for. Could be better explained. I had few other gadets from Inateck and thier built is robust. This adapter is fast as well.

Does the Job....at a stretch.
This device does what it says on the tin.....however for the price, I found it quite pricey. Basically all plastic and very light. My main gripe is that it only has about 6 inches of cable, which is rather poor for something costing £13 inc postage. You can't hide your drive away whilst working with it, you have to have it next to you unless you buy an extra USB3 extension cable, which puts another £3 or so on top.

The Inateck USB3 to SATA adapter is a smart looking device
The Inateck USB3 to SATA adapter is a smart looking device. It connects to my SSD drive and a few old laptop drive without and problem. Under windows 10 it was plug and play and good file transfer speed to the drive. It has a blue led light on top which solid shows powered up and flashing shows active file transfer. The device looks smart and now part of my desktop/workstation.
