Couldn't see any cracks but I put a smear of Araldite over the inside of the join just to be on the safe side. Certainly a watertight join now. Unlike the product description on the website, instructions in the pack make it clear that the felt wicks supplied to draw up the water can be re-used so you don't need to budget on buying a regular supply of them as if they are consumables. You do get spares included but it's just felt, you could make your own pretty cheaply. Review: Not cheap, but looks good and does the job - Update June 2023: following the issues with the product, I’ve claimed under the 2 year guarantee providing photos and receipt and have received replacements for the two items originally ordered. I've had no issues with water leaking from the spout, looks like Cole & Mason have fixed this issue. I received one of these as a gift, and have bought another one since - supermarket herbs just keep on going using this product! One thing to note is that plants often have a tendency to root into the pads, so the plants may need lifting and rotating once or twice a day after they grow to a certain size - although this is probably a sign that the herbs need dividing or repotting into a new/larger container... The pads have lasted well, coming up to three months they've needed 2 or 3 rinses, and look a little worn out now, but I think there may be another month left in them.
