Love it!
Arrived very quickly; well packed and all in one piece. I bought the smallest available organic chicken and followed a recipe online which involved sitting the chicken on some prepared vegetables. But there wasn't much room for the vegetables - really there was just enough room when the chicken sat on the bottom. I stuffed some of the veg down the side and put it in a cold fan oven at 180 degrees for 2 hours taking the lid off half an hour before the end. The chicken was nice and brown and very tender but the skin wasn't very crisp. Next time I'll repeat that recipe but with the oven at 200 degrees. I can't wait to try and bake bread in it. I noticed one reviewer said his chicken brick was partly glazed but the one I received was unglazed.

its a little smaller
This arrived in a lovely box and it looks great, the down side is that it is very small. I do not think you would get a whole chicken in it. On the box it does say for 2 persons but they would not have to be hungry

Put in cold oven or it will crack!
I love chicken in a brick, and am so lucky my friend gave me advice prior to using it the first time! There is so much noise all over the place about prepping the brick and recipes with oil and lemon and consommé and whatnot but honestly you don't have to pre-treat the brick, just wash and dry it. You don't need a recipe. Just put the cleaned and emptied out chicken in the brick with some salt and pepper, that's it. Put it in a cold, NOT PRE-HEATED oven and set it to 400C or 200F and set timer for 2 hrs and it comes out perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. So freaking simple, why complicate it?!?

Brilliant way to cook meat
Wonderful - I struggled to find one of these original unglazed versions after my old one hit the floor after 30+ years and needed replacing. The unglazed ones get better with use. Wonderful for meat - we use primarily for chicken and lamb. Meat comes out tender, moist, and your oven's clean.

Purchased as a gift
I purchased this for a German friend (living in the UK) for cooking chicken that doesn't smoke the house out. She was very pleased to receive it and is looking forward to trying it out.
