Columbia Men's Cascades Explorer Full-Zip Midweight Fleece Jacket

This fleece fits perfectly for me. However, I am 5'11" and have short legs and a longer torso so I appreciate the extra body length. The medium fits me perfectly with enough room to add an extra layer underneath without having to worry about the usual issue that I usually have with most jackets that always stop too short and leave too much space between my pants and jacket. I absolutely love the quality of fleece and it feels like it will keep me very warm when I put my soft shell jacket over this. For regular use this is perfect with a light waterproof shell over and does not feel like it's going to break down any time soon.Overall highly recommended for people like me with longer torsos that always have trouble with the standard fit winter gear that for some reason favor the short and stocky build.I completely understand why there are some bad reviews of this jacket because most people are not triangular shaped like me with broad shoulder and slim waist but the fact that its a bit long is ideal for me because I can wear it separately and it fits great and if its too long for a base layer I just tuck it into my pants so it doesn't hand too low.

I had a North's End fleece for 15 years and finally gave out on me. This fleece is a lower end model. It has no nylon liner so putting it and taking it off on over a long sleeve shirt is rather challenging as it sticks to your shirt. I paid $40 for my model and I feel it should have not cost more than $30. It's basically a full zip fleece shirt in my opinion. Very thin material. Also, the chest zip pocket does not go below the bottom of the zipper. I put my phone in that pocket in my North's End and the pocket hole dropped below the bottom of the zipper so it would stay in their nicely. I almost dropped my phone on pavement with this jacket as I left the chest pocket unzipped and leaned over and my phone almost went flying on the ground (caught it in time). I was so used to my old fleece as this NEVER happened as the chest pocket was deep. Make sure you zip up the pocket when put anything in it. It's a low end fleece so I gave it an average rating. Spend more if you want something nicer. Again, think of it as a full zip fleece shirt with some zip pockets.

I love all my Columbia fleece's, although it drives me nuts that they all seem to fit differently. I am 5'10 about 200 lbs, and I bought this one in a size medium. Some of my Columbia fleece's are more snug through the bottom when you zip up, which makes them ride up your jeans a bit. Others are more loose. When I have bought size large before, it is way too long. Even this fleece is a bit on the too long side, so the size large would look like a dress on me. Overall, I am satisfied. Love the zippered pockets, and comfortable fleece material.

I like fleece. It's warm, easy to care for, easy to pack.The only problem is that it can melt if you get glowing ashes or hot fat on it. The latter happened to an older fleece of mine. The splattering fat melted part of the fleece and nothing would make it look right again. I wore if for some birding trips, but finally decided that I needed to get a new one and donate the old one to someone who didn't really care how it looked.This one does the job nicely.

Fits well, warm and looks great to. Size runs normal. Buy the size you typically wear and you are good. This fleece has a little tighter weave (guess that's what it's called) then the cheaper version. Looks nice. I use this under other coats on super cool days. I live in Wisconsin... Winters go 20-30 below zero at times. Otherwise, sweater under this fleece serves me well down to +20 degrees Fahrenheit.January 20th, 2019 - Update: I'm ordering another one today. Original still functions well just looking rough. Understand that winter's a long here. It's worn well through 2.5 winter's for me.

I wanted a full zip casual top and have a lot of Columbia, so this was an easy decision for the price. I was pleasantly surprised by the weight - very light - and the pockets, which were deeper than expected and kept my hands in just the right position when walking around. I'm fussy about that, so high marks for pocket design.There are inside pockets as well, which are deep with a wide opening, and will be useful on occasion. I am 6'2" 195lb and bought a large - which is my normal size. Fit is good, with room for layering underneath. I don't expect fleece to retain perfect condition after a few washes, but this jacket will do nicely for at least 2-3 cooler seasons (I'm in Seattle).

I like it, but I don't love it. It's a very basic fleece, which I expected for the price. It does fit a little large though. I wouldn't say it's a full size too big, but it is a little bigger than I would like. I would say if you're between sizes, get the smaller size. I don't see any issues with it being able to be layered, but I would prefer it to be tighter. I'm just going to keep it being that I ordered it last minute before a trip though.

Good fit and comes with a draw string at the bottom for adjustment. Zippered pockets are perfect for a fall hike. It's warm but not like super warm. I wouldn't expect it to be something you wanted to be outdoors for hours in the winter. As a layer it's fine. Okay quality. As to be expected of Columbia. Good for what you pay.

It's an excellent jacket with a lot of pockets as hoped! Would have liked a slightly thicker felt thou. Also seems to be the type of Fleece that won't frizzle with time.
