We've designed the AG06 to connect directly to a Mac, iPad or to a Windows PC - it incorporates our own high quality converters and no additional DACs would be needed. If wanted, you could use the AG06 purely as an analogue mixer (a separate power supply would be required) in conjunction with an external USB DAC. However, you might find our general-purpose MG Series and MGP Series analogue mixers more flexible. Of course, the audio track separations depend on your recording setup! The device itself will allow you to adjust monitoring volume levels, so you can mix them in your head, but the actual tracks' volume and their separation depend, again, on the recording and editing of your stuff. ;D **Q: Dumb question but can this drive a sennheiser hd 650 or a beyerdynamic dt 990 pro or would i need an amp?** A: It has a built in headphone amp I use it with my sennheisers **Q: Is it possible to have a mike input and two guitar inputs recording at the same time with this? Also, when recording can I single out these inputs?** A: Thank you for the question. We've designed the AG03 to be a great mixer for vlogging, podcasting and track-by-track music production. But it's not intended for multiple multi-channel recording and dedicated audio interface may be the better choice... Physically, the AG03 has one microphone pre-amp, one Hi-Z connection for guitar and a stereo connection for keyboards (and other line-level audio sources). However, the guitar and keyboard inputs share a mixer channel - you can't use both at once (so there's a switch to choose between them). Also, be aware that the AG03 sends only a stereo feed (2 channels) to Cubasis, Cubase and other DAWs over the USB connection. This can either be a stereo mix of all your inputs or just the microphone and guitar inputs separately. So, potentially, by having two guitars connected firstly to external pre-amps and then to the left and right keyboard inputs, you could theoretically record a microphone and two guitars at the same time. However, the channels wouldn't arrive separately in your DAW which will make post-recording mixing virtually impossible. For recording with multiple instruments and microphones, we'd instead recommend Steinberg's UR Series of dedicated audio interfaces. The Steinberg UR44 includes 6 independent input channels which are kept separate over the USB connection to your DAW. The first 4 inputs also feature our highly-rated D-PRE pre-amps - so you can get professional sound quality easily. The first two of the UR44's pre-amps can either be used for microphones or guitars; the second two pre-amps can either be used for microphones or line-level instruments (eg keyboards). The final two are designed for line-level sources (eg keyboards) only. Unlike the AG03, the UR44 isn't a mixer and always requires a DAW (whereas the AG03 can just be used as a mixer if wanted).
